C Gray: These plates are truly beautiful- no doubt but I’ve already purchased a third set just to replenish the chipped ones. They're probably an earthenware clay body rather than a higher-fired, more durable, stoneware body. I’ve had several pieces chip and this in a kitchen with no kids, a husband who eats but doesn't dishwash, an me. And I'm pretty darn careful. One inadvertent tap on a granite counter and... Yep, another chip. :(
Additionally, they're listed as “microwave safe” which I don't doubt they are- as in no leaching lead etc. but not to confused with the piecrd not getting hot in the microwave, because, they most certainly do. (Not a pleasant discovery as you pick up the mug you just reheated coffee in) 😳Again , probably another indication that they're made from an earthenware clay body.
With that said- would I buy them again? Probably not but I do pull them out for company and I get a lot of compliments. They really are beautiful, as I said earlier. But if you're looking for a practical everyday set of dishes- these probably would not be your best choice. Hope this information helps.

Amazon Customer: Can't complain about these dishes. Yes, they will chip with rough use or if banged. I expect that as they are not made of plastic. Beautiful designs, colors. Bought the pasta bowls as well and they are the perfect size for salads and pasta dinners. They came well packed in heavy cardboard with pieces in between and numerous sized boxes for the different pieces. The dinner plates are a somewhat "bowl-like" with the first inch or so much higher than the middle section. Great to hold your food in.

MSCMSC: The artwork is beautifully done. It arrived in perfect condition. One of the big plates is missing a little bit of paint, but it's so small you barely notice it. I get a lot of complaints about my new dinnerware set. I am extremely happy with it.

Pamela A. Szczesniak: I was recently in Mexico and as usual I fell in love with Talvera pottery. It is expensive, but it is hand painted clay that is unique. That said, I did not want to travel home with such heavy dinnerware, and I really was concerned about the overall cost. When I got home I looked up this dinnerware, and the price was even higher, but that led me to this stoneware set that captures the essence of the original pottery, but for a lot less, and it is more durable. I was so happy with these dishes that I have ordered a second set that should arrive today. Can't wait! I highly recommend these dishes! P.S. The coffee mugs are large, but easy to hold. The dinner plates and salad plates are also a little larger than typical. I bought the set that has the deep cereal bowls and love the way the inside is painted!
