Marius Dascultu: Brilliant piece of design. You can use it either like in the main picture or separate.

Annapolis Haven:
Needed a warm cover for my face, neck and noggin. Having always used a standard balaclava, I took a chance and purchased the N-Ferno 6827, which turned out to be a great decision on my part. This head cover has kept my head, face and neck warm and toasty even during a recent blizzard with strong winds for several days. What is unique, at least to me is the neoprene mouth and nose section making the cover much more comfortable to wear and easier to breath in. Also, I no longer have the huge wet spots on this mask, in the mouth and nose area, caused by breathing. This allows me to wear this head cover many times during a day without the wet mask syndrome.
Although I've not tried this, the product can be separated into different configurations, probably handy..
Today I purchased another identical product for my wife.

I liked this one better than the N-Ferno 6823 model as it put less awkward pressure on my nose. I prefer thin fleece material like this as it doesn't make me feel itchy and the flexibility to use this as a neck gaiter, or full on head gear is really useful.
I don't need to use this very often, but when I know I might be going somewhere *possibly* really cold I can hedge my bets. I tend to bring some very light head warmth (a hat, or scarf) and then just pack this in case because it has virtually 0 weight/space penalty. 90% of the time its not as cold as I though, but in case it is this will more than do the job.

Pat:
The material doesn't capture vapor from heavy breathing making it excellent for cycling outside at low temperatures. I've used it in -20C weather and my face was warm. You get good visibility wearing this mask and the velcro outside the detachable cap make's it easy to fix it into your helmet.
Very pleased with this item which is affordable too.

Dustin C Beach:
Pros: It's warm enough. Neoprene mask part is covered with fleece so it doesn't feel rubbery against my skin. With both pieces in place, it covers my entire head minus my eyes. Reasonably priced when I bought it (on sale).
Cons: Seems cheaply made. The seams are thick and itchy at the edges. Fleece could be thicker - dunno if it would hold up during a full day of outdoor activity in windy freezing temps. The cap and face make pieces don't overlap enough so that both bits cover my ears - the seams both cross my ears uncomfortably. The velcro crackles constantly when moving. There are two loops on the top of the cap that I have no idea what they do. And the mask doesn't fit closely enough to my face beneath my eyes, so that when I breathe my glasses fog up.
Note: I decided to ditch the cap part all together and replace it with a normal wool-blend knit hat. That way, I can pull the face mask part up higher so that the upper edge is above my ears, and the cap covers the back of my head/neck. This also seems to make the mask seal better. The velcro holds to the knit hat reasonably well as well. This, I think, still makes it worth what I paid for it.

Jerry: I gave it 4 stars because a few minor things but overall i love it and works good. It is not windproof because of the vents. but keeps your face warm even with the wind blowing in. not much comes through vents. the vents do a good job and not much moisture produces inside at all. they have velcro on head. that is my main con. i do not know what they would be useful for. they are irritating to me and pointless. there is velcro to attach the face part and the hat part. if you wear around the chin, the velcro is a lil annoying. you can wear this as a beanie, neck warmer, full head, or on chin. the neck is covered good and it fits good overall. with goggles or glasses it keep you very warm. but not for extreme(below 0 and windy) weather. I live in PA and is good for my area. also works good for riding motorcycle.

Amazon Customer: Got this to wear under my ski helmet. In the past I could not wear full head balaclavas because I have very long hair and it was uncomfortable underneath. I bought this because it can be separated from the head top, but I actually am able to wear the whole thing. I just slide my braids between the Velcro straps that hold it together! The only "downside" is that the Velcro has to be adjusted into place so that it doesn't scratch my ears when placed under a helmet. But this is easily done. Lightweight but warm and love the neoprene nose/mouth area.
