Placeholder: Needed a small clock for bathroom vanity, and this one is perfect...you can see dial at night, and even has an alarm on it in case you want to time some task elsewhere in your home. Reminds me of old-time alarm clocks. Since it's battery run, no need to find some place to plug it into.... just perfect.

Online Buyer: I’d give it five stars if there wasn’t a major design flaw that ruins an otherwise perfect clock. For some idiotic reason, the hour and minute hands have slits cut out on them that causes the backlight from the dial to bleed through the hour and minute hands. So at night when you look at the clock, instead of seeing thick black hour and minute hands, all you end up seeing are faint thin needle like hands that look almost like the seconds hand. Instead of a clean & clear contrast between the dark hour & minute hands and the bright dial, all you see is a blurry blob of light bleeding through the cutouts on the hour & minute hands. If the designers of this clock had only left the hour and minute hands alone and not put some stupid cutout slits, this clock would have a perfectly clean contrast between the hands and the dial.

And forget about using illumination button to light up the dial to see the hour & minute hands better. The illumination button feels like turning a flashlight on and shining it right into your eyeballs! It’s so bright that it’s almost blinding, especially when you’re trying to see what time it is when you are still half asleep. For...

Meg: Sadly this clock is not silent, but I did give it four enthusiastic stars because of these four features: (1) The numbers and the hands are easy to read from a distance. (2) the lighted dial is adjustable, so you can turn the light off or turn it up incrementally to quite bright. We keep the light on low- enough light for our grandson to read the clock in the dark so he does not wake us up to find out if it is time to get up yet (we get up at 6:30 am when it is still dark here) (3) if you choose not to have the dial lighted at all, it has the option of a button on top of the clock which you can press and a nice blue backlight comes on so you can see what time it is. 4) the alarm starts off quietly and if you do not hit the snooze button the alarm increases exponential with increased speed of beeps and volume! you cannot ignore this alarm! 5) Sits nicely on the windowsill. My grandson loves it and has learned to read time thanks to this little clock.. WE would have sent it back for a truly silent one, but my grandson does not mind the sound.
