F.D.P.: Had to replace a very old (ten year?) Epson Workforce printer. Pulled my hair out juggling all the obscured specs of all the brands, Brother, HP, Canon.

Read carefully: some of them will duplex print, but not duplex scan; some of them will duplex scan but not with a Mac; some of them will do all that but they are made to print 13 inch wide paper and if you just need a simple multifunction office unit for 8-1/2 X 11 inch paper you're getting a LARGE footprint and spending a lot of money you don't have to.

I had to create a spreadsheet to parse it all.

This one (WF-4830) does everything the other one did but faster and better. Wireless, copies, scans, prints, scans duplex, prints duplex, color and B&W.

Doesn't benefit from large ink tanks so that's still criminally expensive, but for my home office it's fine.

dallas: Went from hp to canon with nonstop issues. I figured I’d get a brand that is known for making printers. Best printer I’ve ever used. Super easy to setup Wi-Fi and WIFI DIRECT (if home Wi-Fi is unavailable). Prints crazy fast compared to my last canon mg. Paper tray capacity between both trays is a full stack you buy. So far from what I can tell it manages ink well and doesn’t do any unnecessary “warmup” or “testing “ which wastes ink

Kenny: Nice machine, nice price. I was able to make my first copy about an hour and a half after opening the box. That was the easy part. But since I print from my desk top HP computer to a printer I had to make the two machines communicate, which required a lengthy phone call to Epson. There was a bit of a language barrier with the polite and helpful representative but she was finally able to guide me through the process successfully. I deleted one-star because of the potential cost of the 4-ink cartridges when it's time to replace, and I'm still not sure what that cost will be. Not cheap I expect.

Chris M.: I bought this printer because I was fed up with the decline in quality and reliability of HP printers. Well, everything is relative, I guess, because this printer has had problems from the start. First, I find the Epsom software very clunky and balky. It was always asking for firmware updates and then it was inconclusive whether it installed properly. The scanner app is also not up to par, in my opinion. Bizarely, the scanner defaults to a low-res setting that nobody would want to use, at least not for professional applications, which this printer is supposedly for. The document feeder works well enought except when you want to copy or scan something directly from the plate, then the printer nearly always tells you it has a paper jam, which it does not, and it usually requires several tries or power-cycling the printer to convince it there's no jam. Last, and worst, after only six months of use it had essentially fatal alignment issues that could not be corrected--doubling and shadowing of text and graphics in both color and black-and-white and bizarre disjointed lettering on random lines of text.
