Swami Apteshananda: The Metrone is overall okay only what I found to improve its sound system because it sounds much. When one sings with harmonium this metrome cannot be kept close. There should be some method so that one can control its sound as per his choice.

JackJack: Simple to operate. Wind it up, set the beats, and the speed. Let the arm start to swing and start counting along as you play. Well made, operates nice, and may get handed down someday.

Parakeet: It's a little bigger than I expected but nice and very easy to use. Seems to keep time well. It is very loud though.

Strodav: This is old school - no batteries, 100% mechanical. You cannot beat it for the price. It is pretty for plastic. It looks very nice on my black lacquer keyboard frame. It is fairly easy to move the weight along the pointer to adjust tempo and it is easy to adjust the beat, but I don't care for the bell that dings to the beat. It is easy to wind up (yes wind up) and it goes quite a while. If you are a music teacher, get an electronic metronome, but for casual use on my piano, it is perfect.

Thomas K: We purchased another brand electrical metronome when my daughter started to learn Piano five or six years ago. The volume of that one was too low that we barely hear it while playing piano. Daughter used it for few months and gave up for what ever reason. It was our fault, don't want to blame her first piano teacher, not insisting her to use the metronome. Eventually after two or three years later, daughter's new piano teacher found her hard to follow the rhythm and some time miss the beats. We started to use the metronome again. This time the iPhone Apps. They were pretty good and most importantly loud enough, however, sometimes disrupting. Daughter is old enough to search for movies or fictions, watching them while she should playing piano and we were too busy to notice her absence. That's why we want to buy her a stand alone one. Long story short, my daughter loves this one. It's loud enough for her to follow, but not too annoying for the other people. It's like the volume is ten when I stand besides her; when I walk few feet away, I can barely hear from it. Melissa: It's my first actual metronome (tried some unsatisfying apps first), and it has a loud steady tick which I like. I am not personally interested in the bell chime right now, and sometimes when it isn't supposed to my metronome engages the bell chime randomly which is probably the main reason this only got four stars.

The best part of this metronome is the simplicity of the ticking, my electric organ has some built in rhythms that I used when I was a kid but they are sort of strange (swing, ballad, bossanova, waltz, etc.) none of them are simple 4/4 or 3/4 time, so the metronome is much better.

The metronome still keeps time adequately well, it just randomly chimes a bit when it isn't supposed to. Having gotten back into practice while using the metronome my timing is now better even when I don't use it.

P. Holder: This purchase teaches me not to buy a Chinese product not previously reviewed by other buyers. This “Cherub” metronome is more diabolical than angelic, failing its essential purpose, to keep even time. The problem: set on a level surface, it offers a loud but uneven “tock” (also has a functional chime to mark every other, third, or fourth beat). It wants to sit on an 8 degree slope to get an even “tock”; maybe one could open the bottom plate to see if the mechanism can be tweaked so that the pendulum action is centered when set on a level surface. I found that my piano actually has an 8 degree sloped surface, so this so called Cherub works okay when set there. Who goes to the trouble to put such a mechanism together, market it, package it, and ship it from halfway around the world, without having someone in the process check to see if it actually works properly? For the price, it is not worth the hassle to ship it back, so there it sits on the piano, a cockeyed reminder that finding reliable reviews of a product is no waste of time.
