eMeet M2 Black Conference Speaker - Wireless Bluetooth Speakerphone

wpl: I like this unit a lot actually even though I have a couple of problems with it. It is not a phone, but it does extend the use of a smartphone via bluetooth. Design is very modern with flat touch style controls and audio / light cues to confirm button choices. It even has light that moves around to indicate the source direction of microphones being detected in use in the face to face meeting. And unit holds power very well. It is not small but not bulky or too large either, about the size/diameter of an average Frisbee and about 2 inches tall. And bluetooth is easy to connect. Directions on how to use could be much better I believe. But the speaker that delivers callers in voices to the face to face meeting members is very clear and natural / pleasing sounding. I did buy two other units from different companies for comparison and this unit by eMeet is the best I could find. I have a couple of problems with it which I state below.

Adam LoganAdam Logan: I purchased this item specifically as a voice to text solution. I am hard of hearing, and one context that is extremely difficult to communicate in is group conversations. Any group conversation… People tend to talk over each other, and who is speaking changes faster than I can look for facial expression cues and face reading (as opposed to lip-reading). In these situations I can't follow the conversation without the help of technology. I use voice to text apps to help, however, the microphones I currently possess have a very short pickup range (this is a good thing), useful for when I only want voice to text from whoever holds the microphone, or wherever I am pointing said microphone. However, I needed a microphone that would have a long distance and 360 degree sound pickup range, that could inteligently filter out background noise and background chatter. Conference microphones seemed to fit the bill, but I knew from what I was reading that they would only work for small tables. I kept looking for something that could work flexibly for small tables as well as larger tables.

LegoDadLegoDad: This is a product where the hardware guys have got their act together but the software guys are seriously dragging down the overall experience. As noted on Play store the 'value add' of the app currently (Aug 18) fails to start and goes in a never ending loop and that's a shame. The overall product from a hardware point of view is good. The box (see pics) is very well presented, again adding to the quality feel. In use, the mic's pick up the sound well and are directional. Audio quality is very clear with a good tonal balance making voices distinctive. It sounds like a more expensive polycom and the overall feel of the product in its size and shape convey a sense of quality. Plugging into the PC it make for a convenient hands free way to use meeting tools (webex, etc) and the vol up/down adjusts the windows volume. Bluetooth works without fault .

The kensington slot (Not that its got a high percentage chance of use) is recessed so my kensington combo lock didnt fit. A cheaper Belkin with the scissor type insert fits ok.

MR J D SCOTT: If you want to replace your old meeting device, this is definitely the product for you. Audio is great, both from the microphone and out of the speaker. The product is fairly easy to figure out without following the instructions and although the device is from a chinese manufacturer and those are the first instructions you see, the translation is pretty good and easy to follow if you need them. The device itself is sleek looking, it's well built and it's designed well (although the long press action for some buttons like Power is a bit confusing at first since not all buttons have long press functionality).

So why isn't it perfect?
1) For this kind of price, I would expect it to come with a soft case at least. If anything it's more consideration for the user since they have to find a case that fits the dimensions of this as close as possible and it's a pain in the butt. If you're also wondering what case to get, check out portable speaker cases for UE Roll 2 or UE Roll Wireless Bluetooth Portable Speaker - if you compare the dimensions, it fits this one pretty snugly (not perfect, but probably as close as you'll get). Chris Foley: In our Software Development Centre, we conduct all of our Agile meetings over webconferencing. At our desk, we typically use wired headsets, but at Sprint Review meetings, Sprint Planning meetings and other product discussion meetings and workshops, where we may have 10 people together in a room and another 10 people connected remotely, we use a single wired speaker phone, connected to a laptop in the main room. To date, we have been using a highly recommended speaker phone from another supplier. However, we have received a bit of criticism that people in the room are not able to be heard by remote participants on the web conference. Because of this, I looked around for a similar speakerphone device. HarmonyHarmony: The media could not be loaded.  I was torn between giving a 4 or 5 star for this, it does everything I purchased it for but it was a little on the expensive side, however, in the time it took for me to review this, it has come down in price and now offers much better value!

If you work in a home office or corporate environment with lots of meeting rooms, this is fantastic. Easy to pair with the phone (Samsung S8+) by Bluetooth and you can use the supplied Micro USB to USB cable for the PC (and charging) or the Aux cable in/out for connecting other devices or extending the conference capability in a larger room. Even if you dont work in an environment where you hold conference calls with other peple in the room, this allows you to talk hands free rather than using the mic and speaker on your phone, gives everything much better sound quality and you can carry on on the PC or working in the kitchen for example while chatting. When you buy it, try calling your own mobile with it and leaving a message and then with you phone on hands free. Listen to both the messages and hear the difference

The item arrived safely and in good condition. It looks and feels very well made and certainly looks like a nice bit of kit.

The instructions were well written and easy to understand in order to get the device up and running.

The main / primary function of this device is to be a conference call speakerphone for mobile phones working via bluetooth. There is a sufficient improvement during conference calls with clients now both in how we hear the call and also the quality for the client on the other end with three of us talking. The microphones are excellent and now we can just sit around a table normally instead of all crowded around one mobile phone which was less that ideal.
