About a month ago, I broke a couple pieces off a ceramic dinner plate that I had for a long time and decided to give this glue a shot. It's affordable, reviews are pretty solid. Best case, I can get one of my favorite dishes back, worst case, I can say I tried to revive it but unfortunately things do not work the way they say it will.
This glue worked exactly the way it said it would. I did have to hold the pieces together with more pressure than I was expecting but after it set, I can use the plate again with no problems and it's pretty difficult to tell where those chips were.
I ended up using this glue to glue back a couple of wood pieces onto my nutcracker as well and it totally worked!

L. Schiff: I just wanted to fix a chipped cup - chipped right at the spot where I drink - it took a few days because I had to build it up since I didn't have the chip - on the last application, I let it dry a bit and then colored it with a sharpie to match the color - the inside doesn't match but I don't care... it's been in the dishwasher and have had not problem with it... haven't put it in the microwave though...

Katieswan: Finally, a glass glue that does actually glue glass. I've finally managed to repair the base if a vase.

This glue is great! Glued a ceramic cookie jar lid back together after it fell. Worked like a charm and can hardly notice it was glued. Would work great on mugs, glassware, dishes etc.
Pros: Dries clear, holds very well, was easy to use.
Cons: dries a little slow

I used this to repair a prominent chip on a cherished bowl that could not be replaced, as well as a broken pottery bird water dish (roughly .5 square inch surface area of the break). I followed the instructions, including careful advice provided in reviews here in Amazon and on the package. I applied the glue and then used rubber bands to apply pressure for 3 days -- which I believe was recommended. The bird water thing has stayed strong even constantly exposed to (and filled with) water.
The repair on the bowl has exceeded expectations. It is one of four, which I wash almost daily by hand, and I cannot tell which one was repaired. I haven't scrutinized the bowls, but I have looked them over and rubbed the edges where the repair was countless times and it just does not show.
I can't say whether or not it is the best glue for ceramics because I doubt I'll ever try anything else. I was a bit surprised to find that Elmer's made a product that is so permanent -- I keep it in a different place to keep from mixing it up with the craft glue.
Apparently the constant pressure over time is a key to the success.

Sigrid E. Mortensen:
I bought this because I broke a favorite coffee mug clean in half (diagonally top to bottom), and later the same day my DH broke a large chunk out of the marble handle of his beloved shaving brush. So I went online to research the best glue for china, and found a Real Simple article that recommended this glue -- with detailed instructions on exactly how to use it. After applying the glue, I was able to secure the mug with masking tape; the shaving brush handle required clamping to make the broken surface join really smooth (the tape just didn't hold it firmly enough; glue still oozed out the crack when I pressed it with my fingers, and I could feel the edge of the chip). The next day: Voila! The shaving brush is virtually perfect, and I did a leak test on the mug and it doesn't leak!!! I'm impressed!
Buoyed by my success, I went on to repair the severed heads of some marble chess pieces (whose fate had fallen to the inquisitiveness of some kittens curious about the effects of gravity on marble chess pieces). I was worried at first that this job was too much for the glue, because after holding the pieces together for the requisite minute, the heads...

MCripps: Bought this to repair a piece of our china that had broken. After the repair cured, it is barely visible and holds up as well as new. It is important to read the directions, test fit before gluing, clean and dry items to be joined, wipe off excess glue, and hold pieces together for at least a minute. I'm very happy and confident with the results and it's non-toxic too.
