Clifford W. Donnelly: A really interesting and practical course for would be jewellery makers and silver smiths.
I think you'd need to have some knowledge of the subject to really benefit from this book.

tanderson100: I would say I am at an intermediate level of metalsmithing and this book didn't have much new for me to learn. I think it is a nice book if you just want a glimpse of many different techniques. I just wish she had gone further into some of the techniques and explained how to make the very cool pieces that are pictured. I saw the jewelry on the cover and really wanted to learn how to create those pieces. The tutorials were for the very basic levels on most techniques. Lots of great pictures, just would have liked more instruction on how to make those pieces. Also, the description said there was a section on how to sell your art jewelry and that is not in the book

Pjotr Kirillitsch: in this field - the realm of jewellery-making hobbyists, it appears to be essential to be able to choose a wide range of literature that concerns the possibilities of the technique and design.
This book is a valuable addition in this sense. The explications and examples are very adequate.
Still I think that the value of this kind of books can now be increased by even more detailed and elaborate instructions, given the fact that many books now reach to the same level of descriptiveness and instruction-detail, so there is room for more indepth and detail information at this point.

Cat Walker: I purchased this book simply because I wanted to make a toggle clasp that worked. I found it on page 71, and it turned out well! The book is probably filled with almost every technique a jewelry maker might need. There are also quite a few tutorials near the back of the book. The pictures are clear and well done, making it easy to follow the instructions. There are some terms I was not familiar with because I believe the author was from Britain. For example, fretwork is more likely to be called piercing in the U.S. At the start of the hingeing tutorial, tubes are called knuckles, although the phrase tube cutter is also used. However, slight changes in vocabulary are not really bothersome. I would recommend this book highly as a compendium of metal techniques.

Renee Clothier: I was so pleased when this book arrived two days after Christmas, this certainly surpased my expectations! I really recommend it too. It has just the right balance of creative and practical ideas. I also like the way that with many of the techniques, such as making up pickle solution, you are given various options so that you can make an informed choice that suits your preferences and situation the best. I have bought many jewelry making books now and I think this is one of the most useful ones I own.
