I bought this but didn't put it up since it wouldn't lay flat on the ceiling. I would have needed to super glue the entire outside of the medallion to the wall for it to not show 1/4 inch gap around the edges. Since it is plastic (which you can't really tell by looking at it) it just isn't strong enough to lay flat on the ceiling.

This medallion is not what I expected when I ordered it. I have bought several Ekena Millwork medallions in the past and all were a solid foam-like material. Because of that, I did not read reviews or
look at the photos. It turns out that this one is hollow and thin. I realize now that it is thermoformed, which is a hollow, thin material. The solid ones are urethane. However, once on the ceiling it looks good, and is indistinguishable from the solid ones. It is very lightweight, and it takes paint well. All in all, I am happy with it, although I will buy the solid urethane ones in the future. If you have an uneven ceiling, they are easier to adjust for that. You can put a screw in to snug it up to the ceiling, counter sink it a bit, and fill with polyfilla. Then touch up with paint and the screw will be invisible.

Looks good on the ceiling but we had to take it down and paint it. It’s a plastic mold so it looks cheap if you don’t paint it.
