Kat Burger: I often use a gadget like this to cut bococcini cheese and eggs. My last egg slicer lasted for a long time; the wires never stretched - but I find the wires on this cutter are too loose and do not cut all of the way through. After a couple of uses the wires became too loose and stopped aligning properly.

Bad Gato: Sturdier than any other egg slicer I've ever used; the two halves stay aligned. (Mind you, I've only ever used cheap ones).

Alice: Needed one of these for years--this slicer is so much better than expected! It cleanly, easily, completely and flawlessly slices through eggs and I have used it for strawberries too. I'm sure it could be used for mushrooms and avocados and other soft foods. It cleans easily and is so cute. :-) A pleasure to use and is a conversation starter when guests see me use it. Highly recommended and a very good value.
