CeeJay: This thermometer does not come with a case to keep it clean. I find this to be a major disadvantage. It did come with a spare battery taped to the plastic container it was laying in. Some of the positive features do not work well. The backlighting is on very briefly. It comes on as soon as the temperature reading is completed, but only remains on for about one second after it is removed from the mouth. One must look quickly or have a good room light going. The beep upon completion of the temperature reading does not happen half the time. When it does beep, 90% of the time it is VERY soft, nearly inaudible. Only once (admittedly, I have only had this a few days, but currently there is illness in the house) did it beep loudly enough so that I could clearly hear it. And my hearing is pretty good.
I do have to trust that it is accurate. There is no reliable way for me to test it. I do appreciate that the display is large, and while briefly backlit, is very easy to read. The on-off switch is simple to use, a definite plus. I will, however, continue to look for one with a case and better backlighting.

Mamabear: I have spent lots of time looking for thermometers. No matter the brand or price, it seemed like they all had reviews that would say it's no accurate. I decided to give this one a try. I have a couple other thermometers that still work so I would use more than one to see if the readings were close. I would take the readings a couple of times with each. It seemed like they were always close to each other. So while I can't say with certainty that this thermometer is accurate, it seems to be when tested against others. It takes the reading much faster than my other thermometers and I like how big the numbers are. The green and red light to differentiate normal vs a fever is a nice bonus.

Amazon Customer: I just got this thermometer, so I immediately compared it to the no name one I've had for years that I probably bought at a drugstore.

Pros:

1. Fast readings, and reasonably consistent. Takes about 8 seconds usually, but it can vary depending on proper usage. Read below for some tips (from my experience, I'm not a doctor or a nurse!) (by comparison, my old one could take 2 minutes).
2. Display is backlit and larger than my old thermometer.
3. Uses a CR2032 cell, easier to find in stores than some of the tiny hearing aid batteries others may use, and should last longer. Plus it includes a spare in the package.
4. Has a memory feature. Remembers the last 30 readings, so you can easily compare.
5. Easy to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius.

Cons:

1. No case or slipcover is included, to keep the tip clean (I took 1 star off for this)
2. Tip doesn't flex like my old one. It's a bit less comfortable under the tongue, but the faster readings make up for this.
3. There's no way to clear the memorized readings. Even taking the battery out didn't clear them.
4. Once it beeps, it stops reading, so if you get a low reading, you have to turn...
