Eafengrow EF223 Folding Knife: D2 Steel Blade and G10 Handle for Everyday Carry and Multi-Purpose Use

The Truth: Genuine G10 handle and D2 tool steel blade. Machining is solid, it's well balanced, and the materials feel great in the hand. It's not as ergonomic as say --a Benchmade, but at 1/10th the price, I'd say its a great buy. It is pretty sharp out of the box but I did find that the edge was sharper toward the drop point than the straight edge portion of the blade, so it's far from the best edge I've seen, but it is still very sharp. Give me the choice of 10 of these or a $200 Benchmade folder and I'm choosing 10 of these all day. Hope this helps!

RexRex: The size , profile and thinness of the blade are perfect for what i need in an everyday knife , its smooth out of the box since it has bearings i did put a few drops of marvel mystery oil on it and it made it a touch smoother and it will only get better as it is broken in , ive ordered other EF knives and sitivians but this one is by far the best and sharpest out of the box , the clip is tight , no blade movement and it is centered I absolutely love it

B: I really like the D2 steel used in this knife's blade. It hold an edge well but isn't too difficult to sharpen. It's a great balance of hardness and durability.

The flipper action is smooth and fast. The blade stays securely in place until you flip it out. It doesn't take much force. Again, it's a very nice balance of safety security of ease of opening, and the knife has accidentally opened in my pocket.

The edges of the handle were a little sharp when the knife was brand new, which wasn't very comfortable. The G10 wears down really slowly, so rather than wait for nature to take its course I did some light sanding on the corners of the handle, particularly on the side of the blade opening. Just a very slight sanding took the edge off of the handle and the knife is all the better for it.

The only other minor issue I have is that the clip can't be relocated. Not a huge deal.

For the price, this knife is tough to beat. I'd put it up against my more expensive CKRT knives any day.

kman: Didn't initially like this knife. It was too thin and the finish seemed rough--tool marks on handle, handle not well polished, weird feel because the grip is blocky, flat, and thin--stuff like that. I have several knives from this company and I like all of them a lot, so this knife seemed like a black sheep.

I started carrying it because it was sharp, very sturdy, and if I carried it I wasn't going to hurt the knives I liked more.

It grew on me a lot and turns out that this is a really good knife, regardless of the finish and the feel of the handle.

Pros:. Sturdy--the blade seems thin, but it can take a beating. The hinge is solid and very smooth. Like high end CRKT smooth.

Holds an edge. You could shave with this knife. Ok that's an exaggeration. And don't try it, that would be stupid. But it holds an edge really good. I use it very frequently and have not yet sharpened it. The edge is still very sharp (I've had the knife for about 3ish months as I'm writing this).

Cons: finish. Not an overly attractive knife. The ground edges on the handle grips look, well, ground. It doesn't seem like anyone really took the time to smooth or polished the cuts...
