I watched several videos on how to clean this unit and two problems emerged: (1) will take 30+ minutes, and (2) requires a special screwdriver that I didn't have to remove some of the important screws. My Dyson was acting up where I was getting low hissing sounds, which I found out means the bypass was activated because there was excess blockage somewhere, and by process of elimination it had to be in this unit. So I bought a new cyclone assembly for under $100, and now the vacuum works like new. My unit was more than 8 years old, so having to replace this to get like-new suction was definitely worth it.
