It performed as expected to power a nest sensor for my thermostat that was low on battery. I prefer Duracell over Enegizer - try it, it will change your life. (or not.. it’s just a battery)

David F. Brophy: ThIS IS THE 2ND TIME I HAVE REPLACED MY SECURITY WIRELESS SYSTEM WITH DURACELL BATTERIES. THEY ARE GOOD AFTER 5 YEARS, BUT TO BE PROACTIVE I REPLACE THEN ON A 5 YR CYCLE.

Me: I run through a lot of the 123A batteries and the Duracell Ultra Lithium are the best that I have found thus far. While I haven't conducted a "scientific test" I am convinced these batteries last longer than the same type from competitors. I don't know why, but for me, they do. I use them in a Fenix Flashlight that is my house, car, hunting and look around in the dark light. With a high lumen Cree LED, batteries can drain quickly. I also use them in a weather station and camera. I recommend them as a go to item. They are a tad more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

John D.: I'm generally ok with the product I received, although there are two definite differences from what is advertised.
First, the packaging. The photo shows a blister pack of eight batteries. What actually comes is a small white box of eight batteries. I think that's good. With the box, the other batteries are nicely kept in the box. With a blister pack that would be destroyed when initially opened, all the remaining batteries would be loose and rolling around.
Second, the expiration date. The description talks about a 10-year shelf life. However, these batteries have an expiration date of March 2024, so they've already got two years eaten into their life span. While this would normally be a problem, the inexpensive nature of this package more than outweighs the two years lost. I bought this package of eight for under $15 because my local store had a 2-pack for $18! And that 2-pack was also dated 2024. So who cares about the lost two years when these batteries are under $2 each, when they normally retail for $9 each? Not me.

Rome: All 8 batteries came in 1"x 1"x tall x 3" wide, white box. It says Made in the USA but have Chinese characters written on the battery. The battery fee and looks like it is wrapped with some type of hard plastic with "Duracell" logo. it just doesn't feel like a real Duracell battery. The batteries are dated with 2013/11, not sure if that is the expiration date because its 6/2014. Hoping its the production date. I haven't tried out the batteries yet to see if it works. I am going to the store to buy a Duracell CR123 to compare these with the store purchase and will post an update.
This is why I am giving this review a 3 stars because of all the stuff that I had noticed. I think it was the plain white box that made me this that its a rechargeable batteries. My $0.02, I should have read comments and reviews first...
UPDATE!!! 6/3/14
I purchased the Duracell CR123A battery from the store and the batteries I purchased from Amazon and store bough are both identical. Over all I would like to say that I am very satisfied and probably give a 5 star, because the box that the batteries came doesn't look like it came from a factory.

LasVegasBret: A carded 2-pack of CR123 batteries locally at Walton's goes for ~$9. Ouch.
I was hesitant to order these off of Amazon due to others' reviews -- I had no idea if I'd be getting garbage or not.
I'm very pleased with the purchase. Batteries arrived, neatly packed in a white labelled box (not retail packaging). They are marked as NEW. Voltages test well (nominal voltage is 3v, tested between 3.21 and 3.24 volts).
Each battery is labeled with expiration date. In my case, March 2021 which implies that they were manufactured in March of 2011, or about 2 years ago. In short, these have ~8 years left on the shelf, out of an estimated 10 year shelf life. I plan on *using* these batteries, so that isn't much of an issue for me -- the cost savings alone more than justifies the fact that they are a couple of years old. If you are looking for batteries for your long-term storage, I'd recommend sourcing them elsewhere (e.g. retail) where you can confirm the expiry date will meet your needs.
