Duracell Coppertop Duralock AAA Alkaline Batteries, 14-Pack

Gene Parmesan: For maybe 10 years, from about 2004 to 2014, I only bought Duracell batteries if I could help it. They all worked well. But if I left them sitting around, they all leaked. I didn't realize the extent of the leaks until just after I bought a big box of AAA batteries from Amazon. Here we are, 4 years later, and most of the AAA batteries, completely unused, have leaked all over the place, even though they are supposedly good until 2022.

If you're going to use and replace your Duracell batteries in a year, I bet they'll be fine. But if you're going to put them in a device and leave them there for a couple years, DO NOT BUY Duracells.

Robert Austin: Came fully charged and fit anything calling for a AAA battery. Twice the power if you use two. I did not care for the color combination of copper on top of black. Found it visually unappealing. I solved the problem on my own by installing them with the black end on top and the copper end on the bottom. It solved my visual needs but sometimes the item getting new batteries didn't operate. I'm sure this is simply an oversight on Duracell's part and will soon be remedied by giving us a choice.

Oddyssey: I am sitting here starring at my screen wondering what exactly I am supposed to write for a review of a box (2 actually) of batteries. I have not used them yet but I will and I am positive they will work as good as the ones being replaced, which are the same brand as well. They will power my flashlights, causing them to produce massive quantities of light! Light good! Unless you're trying to sleep then light bad... Giving up now, if your need AAA batteries then buy these.

4 stars because I just can't love batteries. (to many bad jokes...)

Making Art: This a great brand for a good price. If, like me your use headphones, have fire alarms, and so on, it's helpful to simply buy these in bulk.

And, if you need another reason to buy this brand, Duracell says that their alkaline batteries can be safely disposed of with normal household waste (never dispose of batteries in fire because they could explode). Also, due to concerns about mercury in the municipal solid waste stream, Duracell has eliminated all of the added mercury from their alkaline batteries. Basically, their alkaline batteries are composed primarily of common metals--steel, zinc, and manganese. Having said that it's important not to dispose of large amounts of alkaline batteries in a group. Used batteries are often not completely "dead." Grouping used batteries together can bring these "live" batteries into contact with one another, creating safety risks.
