KNKN: Update: changing review to 5 stars: yes it's a pain to set up, but for not a lot of money this thing far surpassed my expectations when my town was suddenly hit with the worst snow in decades at 17" - pic of it set up is a month after the snow hit and it looks like new. Absolutely stunned. Setup is, after I couldn't get the spikes to go into the ground, just zip tied to 2 full planters (drilled holes in some cheap plastic square planters and tied around the sides). Very impressed!
Previous: I got this at a great price ($70) & you get what you pay for. I think this will last a year or two, the booklet says 10 but... I question that. I see that the price has gone up now ($150) & I would not pay that for this.
Complaints: I knew it was made of plastic, but if you don't know well now you do ;) the plastic kind of bends when you put the screws in & you don't really have a choice to bend it in a little, since otherwise the parts wobble too much. So it definitely doesn't look like wood up close, but ah well not a deal breaker for me.
My biggest complaint is the holes cut for the lattice to lace through were not drilled right on 3 of the beams; I had to...

CCCC: I was looking for an arbor for my trumpet vine and climbing rose plants and while I looked at a variety of options, including more expensive ones, this turned out to be a great value and the opening size worked well for me. Some pros: The price is fantastic for this quality of arbor. It is also easy to assemble and while I did have some assistance, this could be assembled by one person by placing it on the ground or against a wall. The vinyl parts are sturdy enough and the arbor is quite attractive. Cons: The screws, while covered in white and easy to drill are not that attractive when you look at the arbor up close - wish they were hidden or had vinyl caps - but I figure my vine will cover it in no time and I am being picky about this. So too the 3 sided caps for the long crossbars - wish they were 5 sided like the small caps on the top crossbars. I used a little extra silicon to smooth out the small gaps. The braces connecting the top and sides were a little difficult to line up and you need to make sure everything squares up. Still, it's a good looking arbor for the price and since I placed mine against the support posts for my gate, the arbor is braced well. Not sure how it...

Anon Ymous: Update: I wanna say it's been about two years now since I got this. I moved away from the house a couple months ago, to an apartment, and left the arbor in the yard as a gift to my friend and landlord for helping me move and giving me a nice deal on rent. When I left, the arbor still looked gorgeous and white, and the only thing that was a bit off about it was the footing/stakes. The yard has some major ground/soil issues and developed some hollow space on one side of the arbor, making it lean. Some longer stakes would have been nice, but I think these probably would've been fine if the soil hadn't been ridiculous and some of our furry little friends hadn't been digging tunnels everywhere.
It was absolute bedlam trying to put this thing together, but now that I've got a better idea, I think next time would be faster. You definitely want at least one other person to help you, but two is better. As someone who has a bad habit of doing two-person jobs on my own with some ingenuity, I can tell you not to bother; it will only waste your time and frustrate you. The good news is that once my neighbors and I got it together and the glue dried, it's stayed together. Now, it hasn't...
