Amazon Kunde: El libro es de para dura y tiene un contenido estupendo y con muchos dibujos explicando todo paso a paso. Si hablas inglés merece la pena comprarlo, sobre todo por la de ideas que da y lo bien que aclara dudas de mantenimiento, electrónica, motor de barco, etc. La verdad es que me ha encantado y lo voy a usar mucho con mi barco del 1978.

Guillermo D.: This is a great and very comprehensive book. It covers a wide variety of topics from how to survey a sailboat to all electrical systems. I don't give it 5 starts because (just like the author's other book 'This Old Boat) the because doesn't have a single real picture. All the figures are just drawings. This book would be greatly enhanced if the editors put the time and money to replace most of the drawings with real pictures. Other than that, it is a 'must have' book for those that are sailboat owners

Amazon Customer: Covers just about everything you need to know. On electrics, he is of course used to a US ac voltage system, but the basics are the same.
Would help if a section on saildrives would be included

Jo Ann: The book does not have how to service and repair the transmission "Gearbox". The engine talk was very informative but is still pointless without the transmission talk! Also does not talk about how to repair winches and autopilot diagnostic service and repairs. So this book is not a "Complete 6 books in one Illustration". Now I have to find and buy other books on these missed important subjects. But otherwise this is a useful book.

adam: This is a must have book for anyone with an older sailboat, or anyone considering the purchase of an older boat. Lots of practical information and will certainly be an asset to have, not only during the buying process but also while you update and maintain the boat. The book has no photographs but has hundreds of illustrations and diagrams. I’ll be buying Don Casey’s other books.

Michael B. O'Connell: This is an interesting book that I am enjoying quite a bit. All line drawings, no photos but what seems to be a good cross section of techniques and things to look for. The reason I say read the title completely is that it states (in the Amazon description...the cover of the book does not state the information the same): "Don Casey's Complete Illustrated Sailboat Maintenance Manual: Including Inspecting the Aging Sailboat, Sailboat Hull and Deck Repair, Sailboat Refinishing..." When it says "Including Inspecting the Aging Sailboat", it means the actual book that is sold under a separate cover and in paperback: looks like page for page, chapter by chapter to be the same except that the paperback is in b&w whereas the hardcover that includes the same information includes blue as one of the colors (I bought both...oops). At any rate, I'm not griping about either of the books, just informing that if this book is purchased, buying the paperback is redundant.

Lloyd: I just got this book in from Amazon. I need to work on my own 30 year old L. F. Herreshoff designed H-28 sailboat. I ordered two Don Casey books. These books by Don Casey cover 99% of the things which I need to work on, complete with drawings and diagrams. This book gives you an extensive list of information topics for repairing your boat properly. This book is a reference book and doesn't spend a lot of time on any one subject. This book is well worth ordering if you plan on doing any repairs to your sailboat.

Update (2 weeks later):
I've had a chance to look closer at this book and I just reduced my opinion of this book from 5 Stars to 4 Stars. The reason was his explanation on Basic Electronics. I came away scratching my head and wondering what the heck he was saying. This is information from a Physic's Course for people who understand it better. What he considered were his layman's explanations were still over my head.

However, I found his How-To information very useful. Even his How-To on electronics was very useful. But if you need to know exact numbers on how much electricity that you are pulling and how much you need (And you have been out of school as...
