Jacquline Hunter: Enjoy reading these stories at night. Also give me the opportunity to practice my Korean. Very easy to read.

ozzy: Truly no complains. Book has stories from shorter to longer ones, translations, questions and vocabulary. Might not be entirely useful in day to day but great for improving reading, understanding and learning more vocabulary and writing style.

Lingo StarLingo Star: The media could not be loaded.  The stories in this Korean-English parallel text anthology of Korean folk tales range from very short (only a paragraph) to a few pages. It has a good glossary and index for language learners. Some of the stories have their origin in traditional folktales while others seem to be just silly short anecdotes. It introduces the reader to an aspect of Korean folktales and the virtues and values that they present. It's entertaining and accessible for a learner of Korean who can commit just a little time to read and study the translations.

Zack Parsons: I would highly recommend this book for the mid- to upper-level beginning Korean learner, especially if you are looking to reach the intermediate level. This book is definitely not for the absolute beginner, at least not without other resources to get you started. While I think that this book is truly unique and invaluable, there are some flaws, too.

Pros:
This is book is by far the best resource I have found for helping me move up from the beginner level, and finally reach the intermediate level in Korean. I find that the textbooks I had been using were getting to bogged down in the details (which is good for formal learning), and the practice reading activities are typically so boring and rigid. However, this book is a game changer. The stories are very interesting and they gradually build in difficulty and I never felt like I hit a brick wall. Every story has a English translation, comprehension questions, and an essential list of vocabulary. I recommend skimming the pre-reading questions and vocabulary before each story to help smooth things out.

The inclusion of audio recordings for each story is a true bonus. The speaker speaks at a good pace and has clear...

John Daily: This is such a terrific book, and I hope Tuttle publishes another, more advanced one to make this a series. The stories are excellent, and each one builds off of vocabulary learned in previous stories. This allows for familiarity through repetition without it feeling rote and mindless. The font is clean and although it is a bit small for older eyes, the bright white pages and crisp, clean text provide enough contrast that the characters are easy to read. The comprehension questions start off mostly in English (and are easy), and become progressively more difficult as the lessons progress. Lessons 3 through 28 offer the question in both English and Hangul, and from lesson 29 on they are written only in Hangul. Pre-reading questions and Writing activities are included in most lessons. That said, if you are not using this book in tandem with a language tutor, you'll need to use this as a supplement to other resources, as there are a couple of things missing.

First, careful students will notice similar phrases repeated at the end of most sentences (such as 입니다). There is nothing in the book that discusses what they are or what the translation is; it is left up to the...
