Stephanie: Our last dirt devil lasted 12 yrs until I vacuumed something that I shouldn't have. This one is lighter and a little smaller but just as powerful. Easy to clean filter. This would be great for anyone but also someone who can't lift or push a heavy vacuum.

Roger Foster: more to like then to hate.

its light weight which is why I bought it as I hurt my arm doing construction work on the house, so I needed to give it a rest from pulling the tristar around the house & pushing the bissell clean view II across the carpets I was looking for something lighter & after not having such great experiences buying canister vacuums, first a bissell multi cyclonic that was garbage as it had no power foot, just some combination foot that does not clean carpets well at all, so I took it back to Canadian Tire & exchanged it for a Hoover multi cyclonic that had the electric power foot & all the attachments included, only to find the power foot like most today has no height adjustment, so it does a great job on the thicker low pile area rugs but the thinner area rug in the bedroom & the runner mats in the hall & mud room all have issues with bunching up due to too much suction even with the vent fully open, so I have not been too happy with the fact you can not get a capable canister vac under $600.00 that has a proper power foot with height adjustments on a foot peddle & a simple hard floor brush.

Amazon Customer: Just used the Dirt Devil Reach this morning on my couches and living room carpet, and it picked up great! I couldn't believe where all the dirt came from! So it has good suction power for now since it's new. How it will be later on, I hope it continues. have Berber carpeting so I can't say how it would do on medium or high pile. There is a one year warranty on it but for the price, I wouldn't expect it to last much longer. I have a stick Dirt Devil for kitchen and bathrooms and love it so that's why I looked at Dirt Devil again. It has a big cup which I also love.

Chas E: The fan on my old Hoover blew up. This Dirt devil is substantially lighter, and more quiet. Only a little of that high pitched squeal. The agitator bristles being new really shake the carpet. It filters out more of the dust, but I still run a room air cleaner when vacuuming.
I'm not sure why they can't put batteries on these uprights, but can put them on wand style cleaners. Let the wheels carry a heavy battery instead of you carrying a battery with a hand held or wand style. I'm not sure about using the wand with this, as when you disconnect the hose near the agitator roller, its open to letting stuff come out in the air. The old Hoover had a spring loaded cap that controlled the air movement a bit. Overall its nice. The cord is a nuisance, finding an outlet and reeling it up all the time. The cord reels up around an accessory on the side. I'm taking all the accessories off, and just getting them out of the closet when they will be used, instead of lugging them around all the time. I like not having to buy bags anymore, but the one filter says it needs to be replaced every so many washings. Its not like you never buy anything for it again. And the agitator bristles are only 8...

Laura: Amazing suction! I had central vac in my previous place so I needed a vacuum for my new place. My area rugs that were previously vacuumed by the central vac before I moved; I laid them out in my new place and used this vacuum and tons of dog hair kept filling the cannister! Amazing suction. Don't much care for the instruction manual which is grey paper with faded black pictures. So for someone with compromised vision, it was a pain to try and read. I ended up looking at the box picture to assemble. Took a few attempts to get the suction hose in the right area! PLEASE MAKE YOUR INSTRUCTION MANUAL USER FRIENDLY AND CLEAR. Reason for 4 stars is that when using the extension hose, I don't like that the base keeps vacuuming so it moves around. Other than that, great little vacuum, amazing suction and a cup that empties and a filter that is washable.
