raygam: This unit is well priced (better than other like ones) and works well. I definitely appreciated the increased length - you will too when you reach into your large BBQ grill to check temps. The readout could be a tad bit bigger but I can read it so all is good. Tested it against a few other thermometers I already had and it varies by less than a degree. Good to go!

Leitha: I purchased this as a gift for my son and he loves it. He grills quite a bit and was using a kitchen probe thermometer. Most of the time it worked fine if you don't mind your hand getting a little hot and the probe wasn't always long enough to reach the center of a butt roast or other larger piece of meat. With this fork, the probes are long enough to reach the center of the thickest meats he's cooked so far. I was concerned that it would be too flimsy to be used as an actual fork but it's quite sturdy and can lift most meats easily. It's pretty accurate too! There have been a couple of times when he has cooked a large roast for a length of time that we were sure the meat should be done, although the fork said it wasn't. Both time we took the meat up, let it rest and cut into it and sure enough, the fork was right. Works well on thinner meats like chicken breast or steaks but really works well on the thicker meats that you just can't tell if they're done. You can use on meats and casseroles in the oven as well but you'll probably have to take the dish out of the oven to test it because this is a fairly long fork and would probably be difficult to use unless you have wall...
