D. McHugh: Great saw. Make sure you register your purchases, in this case, Dewalt sent me a notice that a part could cause injury and they sent me a replacement. Unfortunately, the part did shatter right before I got the replacement, and fortunately didn't damage anything or anyone. All is well, love the angles and especially the sliding component.

ALB25: Out of the box almost ready! Had to adjust the miter angle and this beast took off! Way more power than my 20 year old craftsman (but she was a good girl). I’ve been mulling this purchase but couldn’t pass on the price. The only negative is the dust collection system. If you need a miter saw, this is the end of your search.

brian brideau: I like everything about this saw got it for xmas from my wife yes I did pick it out lol I bought a dewalt top of the line stand and also bought ToughBuilt stand tbs600 I'll say dewalt made a great saw but they lack in the making of the dewalt stand ToughBuilt tbs600 is the way to go for this heavy saw its worth every penny

U_ChuzU_Chuz: Is a Type 22 made in Taiwan. and they made it cheap as they could. Many parts that used to be made of aluminum now made of plastic and some features (bevel quick positioning, sliding lock, cheaper blade, holes on the face) removed probably to justify the pice of 780. Still good saw but not the same as it was.

COLIN FORSTER: It’s a great mitre saw, everybody knows that, it’s pretty heavy though if you are lugging it around. Works best with the stand.

AKS: I went from a tiny Ryobi Mitre to this beast, and its power is no joke. If you're a first time mitre user, I highly recommend watching a few YouTube how-to's to avoid injury (my ryobi didn't offer the force that this saw does, and I've had a couple of close calls with kickback with the dewalt bc of foolishly not educating myself first). A+ tool, apart from my novice skills!

stew: Been looking for one of these for a while now, Amazon beat all the sale prices I could find, as much as I like buying local, I couldn't say no. Good solid saw, accurate, easy to use, easy to clean. Great quality, but with great quality comes weight haha. It is a big/heavy saw to move around. A folding saw table with wheels is key if your going to be moving it around.

DeWalt does not list this model (DWS779) on their web site, probably because this saw is the top-of-the-line DWS780 corded sliding compound miter saw without the DWS780's superb XPS guide light. Right now on Amazon (as of January, 2017) and elsewhere (Home Depot online) the DWS779 is selling for $200 less than the DWS780--a substantial savings if you can do without the light. DeWalt used to sell an accessory XPS light for older saw models, but no longer. Though the accessory lights can still be found on Ebay, the electrical coupler for the accessory is no longer built into newer saws. Youtube has guides to ordering the relevant parts off the DWS780 parts list and hacking them onto the DWS779. It will set you back a bit less than $70 and a little work.
