Bryan S. Coffman: I’ve never used an electric eraser before and have all types of erasers in my bag for different types of sketching projects (mostly for different types of papers. No, I wouldn’t use it on watercolor paper (haven’t tried, really—I use kneaded erasers for those projects) but for all my other work it erases cleaner than most any of my other erasers. And it’s great for lifting graphite off to create highlights. I sometimes grind the point on sandpaper to lift very fine lines.

Haven’t used it enough to test battery life but so far I love it.

JP: At first I told myself paying $$ for the simple task of erasing- something I can do by hand very easily and just the cost of an eraser, but this tool is so useful. It saves alot of time bc you can cover alot of surface quickly. Also, a benefit I didn’t realize until i used this, is that erasing by hand removes or can blur some of the ink layer i put on top of pencil when i draft art, and with this, it erases so efficiently, that i just need to touch the surface lightly and in 1 stroke really and the pencil in gone.
To note, the eraser tips do go through use more quickly than I would have thought, but it does come w a supply of replacement tips.

Michelle the Colorist: This works great! I do adult coloring and when I make a mistake and try to use a regular eraser not only doesn't it work well, but it tends to erase too much. I highly recommend this.

T. Jackson: Well, unless there are some counterfeit products floating out there, Derwent needs to seriously work on their quality control. Derwent is known for their high quality art supplies, and I have been wanting to try an electric eraser for quite some time. Derwent is the brand name most frequently mentioned many reviewers, and rather than a knockoff product, I waited a while to buy the "real thing". The price I paid on Amazon is considerably lower than the typical retail price, so I decided to go for it. Since I mainly do adult coloring books, I really hesitated to order an eraser that usually ran around $10 (double that on Ebay). I mainly would be using to lift colored pencil if I wanted to add precise highlights, or perhaps if I changed my mind on a color or made a stray mark.

When I received the eraser, it was packed in a shrink package along with some refills. I was struck at how flimsy it looked to the point I re-examined both the package and the product to make sure it wasn't, as I mentioned before, some fake. It almost felt like the thing would fall apart in my hand the minute it was switched on. (By the way, the product does not come with AAA batteries, so you will need...

IvanIvan: Following a review (by that on-line drawing tutor bloke with five pencils) in which he rubbished this brand, I was rather skeptical about its performance. He absolutely raved about the Sakura in his comparison playoff, so after much deliberation I bought the Sakura - but including mail from USA and a couple of refill packs, it cost me about sixty-five quid. Ouch. It _is_ brilliant though.

For the sake of hardly anything extra I also bought the Derwent and a couple of boxes of refills. Good for chucking in a bag for out and about, I thought.

The Sak comes with Duracells, my Derwent came empty.

The Sakura IS better. It is more solid and has more torque and a bit less vibration. Is it more than ten times better, commensurate with the price difference, though?

No. It's maybe half as good again - twice if I'm being generous.
With fresh batteries, they both work very well and clean up pencil lines more accurately than could ever be done by hand, but there's no real difference in their performance. The Sakura is maybe half a hairs width more accurate - maybe. I suspect it's just a tad more...
