Mr.GJ: I bought this for my apartment door. It looks and feels amazing for the price, however, the issue is that the frame of our door is metal and unfortunately we can’t install this without drilling holes into the metal frame. We had to return this but for the price the quality is pretty good. I wish there was an easy way it install it on the metal frame doors.

Danielle: I purchased the Defender Security 10308 Hinged Swing Bar Lock a while ago for added security on my home's front door, and I must say that I'm very satisfied with the product. My maintenance man kept knocking on my door and not giving me enough time to answer the door before barging in on me so this was a impulse purchase based on circumstances.

The lock is made of heavy-duty steel and has a solid construction, making it very durable and reliable. The installation process was straightforward and easy, and the included screws and hardware made the job simple.

What I really like about this lock is its hinged swing bar design, which allows me to easily swing the bar into place and secure the door from the inside. The lock is also adjustable, which is great for doors of different thicknesses.

Once installed, the lock provides an extra layer of security and peace of mind. The bar is easy to swing into place, and it provides a sturdy barrier that prevents the door from being opened from the outside. The lock is also easy to disengage from the inside, so it doesn't impede my ability to exit in case of an emergency.

Wade AlexanderWade Alexander: Unfortunately, I'm being harassed by a delusional neighbour in my apartment building. This swing bar is feels heavy duty, and has some huge screws (and medium and smaller ones too). Needed to buy a 9/64th cobalt bit to drill out holes in my steel door and frame, but once I got the holes in the door, the screws secured in really well. So, until he is evicted, at least I can confirm it isn't that crazy F before I open the door all the way. And nobody is getting it open without a lot of force (but a steel door and frame really helps with that, too). Anyway, excellent value all things considered.

Alban Zogaj: Bought this for our apartment door which has many apartments on our level and including multiple sets of keys for the maintenance and building staff. We wanted something extra to just know if we were home no one was coming in even if they had a key. The door on our apartment was a metal clad wood door so I had to drill a pilot hole which you should do regardless even if it’s just wood. For the part that goes on the frame unfortunately that’s heavy duty metal with more metal behind it and brick. For that I had to buy self taping metal screws, so far over weeks and accidental openings of the door it’s held up hasn’t pulled out, color hasn’t faded. Definitely gives a bit more of protection and the gap isn’t the large when the door opens while it’s in the lock position. I can’t see anyone being able to bypass it unless they use a saws all or something with a long metal cutting blade, realistically if you try to get past this device you will be heard. I’d recommend it if you needed something extra, can also use it to hold a door open slightly if you were coming in and out with a Costco run of supplies.
