Marlene D.: Once you start reading one of this authors books you might as well forget what you were going to do for the rest of the day. JR Ericksons' books are edge of your seat page-turners. All of them and this one was no exception! I highly recommend ALL her books. And even if you don't believe in what she is writing, you still believe it while reading the book. What an excellent writer she is!! Love her books!!

Jose Orquiz: I enjoyed this read. It was a slow burn for sure but the idea of disappearing out of no where is terrifying. Enjoyable characters and plot even though the book is kind of slow. It’s a great read!

Terry and dog: Part mystery, thriller and folklore, and a touch of romance, this story has it all. Young girls go missing in the woods over a period of years under similar circumstances. Lori and Ben, two people with different opinions, team up to figure out exactly what happened. The setting of course is perfect and the characters are interesting. There's action, a small tough of gore and horror, but it's pretty mild. Just a good story that is hard to put down until you find out what happened.

Amazon Customer: Ok, so apparently I’m binge-reading JR Erickson’s books this year! LOL I really enjoy them. This one wasn’t my favorite, but it also wasn’t my least favorite. I liked the idea of having two villains, one human and one supernatural. The characters were unique and well-defined. I thought the plot wasn’t as detailed in some places as I would have liked. Overall, I enjoyed it and can’t wait to read Ashwood’s Girls next!

Tim from the Hunter: I read a lot of horror at odd moments and before I go to sleep. Darkness Rising got under my skin and I found myself blowing people people off so I could keep reading. Very unusual.
The story is a good one, it doesn’t feature the time jumping that modern authors feel so necessary and which detracts from the flow of any story. The ending is solid and the characters interesting and the confusing first chapter is well worth labouring through to get to the meat of the story.
It’s five chainsaws from me.

Kindle Customer: This was a well written story with a good plot but, unfortunately, it just wasn't for me. I'm aware of all the five star ratings it has attracted but I struggled to get to the end. A dark story, yes, but too much emphasis on social/personal interaction left me cold. Sorry!

Kaltiera: It was a good book, I read it quickly and loved the story but I wish the ending had been a little more satisfying. It seemed rushed while the story up to it dragged out. Would still recommend it though.
