Danby 3.5 Cubic Foot Chest Freezer - Perfect for Storing Frozen Foods and More

Diane Gelinas: The freezer compressor seized-up and was tripping on overload protection after only 14 months of normal use. We noticed this when we opened it to retrieve a a food item, everything inside had completely thawed-out and we lost a couple hundred dollars worth of food. The Power and Run indication lights were both on even though the compressor had not been running for good while. The compressor was hot because it was getting energized every two minutes or so but because it was seized the overload protection kicked in to trip it out. I am wondering if we could of had a fire had we not realized this when we did.
I not need to find out if Amazon or Danby will be willing to make good on this issue. Will update this review once it is known.

John D.John D.: So here is my story on this freezer.
Danby is located in Guelph ON about 30 mins drive from me.
When i ordered this, it was shipped from Danby in CALGARY Alberta.
Since it got loaded and unloaded from various trucks along the way it arrived damaged.

You can see in the pictures, the box was torn near the freezer lid hinge and there is a small crack in the plastic hinge cover. When i saw that i figured i could ask Danby for a replacement cover .. or put some crazy glue on it. Thats a minor thing.

Once i took removed shipping straps and took the box off the freezer, i then noticed some small dents and scratches along bottom edges. Again seemed minor, BUT i was going to push for a "scratch & dent discount" off the full price.

THEN i noticed the worst damage behind where they had coiled up the power cord with a twist tie.
LARGE dent, which is obviously a sign of being dropped somewhere between being manufactured and delivery to my door.
This is the corber where the compressor is actually located, and that could cause it to not work or have premature failure.
SO ... got ahold of Amazon and i was offered a replacement or...

lynne margetts: When the 3.5 cu ft freezer arrived , we discovered it wasn’t going to work in the space provided on our boat.
Customer service was very helpful and gracious when they offered to give us a refund. I offered to return it but as it came from Ontario to
BC and i am a regular customer, they instructed me to keep it or donate it.
I will definitely do business with DANBY and Amazon in the future.

D Curry: We bought this for our summer cabin. It is small, but just the right size for only needing it 4 or 5 months of the year. Fits perfectly in our guest room closet and it is quite enough that guests don't hear it. Keeps things frozen. It did arrive with a small dent in it, but did not effect the functionality of it. I would recommend it.

Frank P.: This small chest freezer is the perfect size for a household of 2-4 people; small enough to unpack and move into place with no strenuous moving process yet is not so small as to be ridiculous. Some buyers call it a “mini” freezer but It holds a good quantity of frozen goods. The motor is whisper quiet and there is an indicator light to show when the power is on and when the condenser is running. An improvement would be a read-out if the internal temperature; the temperature selector knob is very basic, reminiscent of 1960’s technology but then again at this price point it is acceptable.

DylanDylan: I was a little a nervous at first with no reviews it did come with a small dent in the bottom, it started to freeze up right away. I was pleasantly surprised I love my mimi deep freezer and it's perfect for apartments. I waited a month to write this review. Still in love with it. Best buy with my tax refund.
