Cher: The insulated carafe keeps coffee hot for a very long time which is a great feature. Unfortunately, the carafe does not pour very well and leaks 99% of the time. This is the second unit I’ve purchased. I thought that perhaps the first carafe was defective but it is the design. That said, I’d purchase it again because it does such a good job of keeping the coffee hot.

Carol Darnbrough: It is a little different from my original one, however, it was probably about 10 to 15 years old, so I am very pleased with Cuisinart products.

Canadian Rick: We’ve been using for for 6 weeks now and very pleased with the product. Reading some of the reviews about coffee not being hot enough after brewing, or lack of retaining heat in the thermos, I was a little leery about purchasing this item. However, we didn’t/don’t have any of these issues. Coffee is very hot after brewing, and carafe keeps the coffee hot enough for up to 3-4 hours.
The unit does have a warming plate, but it is only on during the brew cycle (to heat up the carafe) and shuts off after coffee has brewed. No drip spout works great and also like the fact you don’t have to loosen lid to pour the coffee.
If there is a flaw in this, it’s that the clock is not backlit. Difficult to see time when trying to set auto start in the kitchen before retiring.

Moyie Alex: The coffee maker does not heat the coffee like our previous 10 cup Cuisinart. The new pot must be preheated with hot water in order to get hot brew. A bother but apparently quite like other makes. Hoped for better from Cuisinart.

Birdielynn: I was tired of replacing my coffee pot every 4-6 months for $20-30, so I started looking for one a bit more expensive on the theory that it would last longer. This one did not disappoint. One year later, it's still going strong and I love it! By contrast, the other expensive coffee maker (a Keurig personal), which one of the coffee drinkers in the house insisted we needed, has already been replaced once in that same time period.

Yes, there are quirks to this one and I will address those for you:

1) It overflows!

It's happened to me a couple of times and here is what I have learned. First off, you can't see or tell by weight how much is in the pot. Do not assume it is empty; open it and check. Also, this is a 10-cup maker and it means 10 cups. Unlike other coffeemakers, you can't "cheat" and add a little more water. It will over flow.

2) The coffee is not strong!

I don't use any more than before with an "ordinary" coffee maker and find it is okay. I don't like my coffee super strong though, and I do try to get the first cup because it does seem to be stronger near the bottom. I would say use a good quality coffee, then swish the pot a bit before...

Austinite: I had owned a Capresso thermal carafe coffee maker for 13 yrs. It was one of the first thermal carafe coffee makers available and I loved that coffee maker. Great coffee and easy to use. I didn't think I would find something as wonderful as my Capresso without spending a fortune. When a small plastic plug finally broke, I researched and researched to find the best coffee maker I could get under $100. Ultimately, I bought this cuisinart, although worried about the bad reviews. We drink a lot of coffee. At least one full pot between my husband and I per day. Some people say the carafe pours too slowly. I was most concerned about this complaint. I couldn't disagree more. It pours perfectly. In fact, you don't have to twist the lid open and closed, which is a nice bonus. There were a few times when someone unscrewed the lid on our old carafe and the next person refilling would dump coffee everywhere. The new lid sits in only one position and the design is really cleaver (no need to tighten and unscrew). It's like a little maze that the coffee flows through so that it isnt exposed to the air, in turn, cooling the coffee. It flows plenty fast. I can't understand why some people complain...
