Robert/Linda: Before ordering, I read the various reviews. A few negative ones gave me pause, but I ordered it anyway and am glad I did. I think it works very well by exerting even pressure. It is also easy to clean. It works great & I'm happy that I acquired this. Beats all that mashing with a fork!

M. Frobisher: We just got ours. Yes, it does leave small pieces of the egg in an un-smashed state, and a little bit of the egg is left in the holes after you use it, but we are willing to accept some loss of raw material for the time savings and totally smashed state of the eggs after we smash them. Much faster than chopping with a knife or cleaning out the other chopping device we used to use but stopped using it because it was such a pain to clean and we couldn't even find it when we looked for it so we bought this instead and boy are we glad. It hasn't broken yet after five eggs, if it doesn't give me a good year or so of service we'll come back here and knock the rating down like we did with that stupid metal lime juice extractor that broke as soon as we used it. Of course, limes are tougher than eggs. At least our eggs. Our eggs are pleasantly not-tough.

Sunshine Gal: I love this egg smasher. I hesitated when parole said it was hard to use, but it’s not at all. I’m a 73 old woman with very little strength left in my arms and hands but I have no trouble squeezing the hard boiled egg in the little machine. I love putting it right into a chef’s salad or tuna salad or making egg salad. So easy! I squeeze once then open. There is usually a collar left around the smashing apparatus that I then put back in a smash that. I scrape the bottom of the smasher to get all that off too. Clean up is a breeze, I run it under hot water and it usually is all clean, ready to go again next time. So glad I bought this little gadget.

Amazon Customer: Egg press needs to be reengineered for better pushing leverage on egg and a cutting edge on the plastic "screen" that you're try to press the egg through. It's difficult to do a whole egg in the first place; requires a lot of hand sqeezing especially with my small hands. The biggest problem is egg whites aren't easy to press screen holes which have flat edged dividers that don't actually cut the egg. The screen gets clogged by the egg whites; you have to pull the press plate up and use a knife to cut the egg whites. It can sometimes take 3-4 pressings to get an egg through. Cutting the whole egg in chucks first does help but is another step to take. The pressed pieces are the right size for garnishes or egg salid, which is what I bought it for. But the clogging is annoying. Overall and if you chunk the egg first, it may be better than the more common egg slicer but that also requires additional slicing to get whites small enough for egg salid purposes.

DangFineGuy: This is basically a flimsy plastic copy of an old fashioned garlic press - but not at all as sturdy. For consistently I tested this gadget by crushing three of Eggland's Best ready made pre-shelled hard boiled eggs one at a time. What I found was that it creaked and struggled to accomplish and survive crushing a whole egg. Since it struggled so badly with the second egg that I stopped and roughly prechopped the second egg and then crushed it with the tool and this worked great. The third and final egg also needed to be prechopped to go through the crusher.
On the bright side, the finished eggs were perfectly crushed and extruded for egg salad and clean up when done right away was a breeze. If the materials and design were stronger then I'd consider recommending this gadget, but until then I'll just consider it a very light duty gizmo that may or may not survive a second or third use.
