COSORI 5 Quart Air Fryer - Oil-Free, Compact Oven for Healthy Cooking

Tedisbest: At the time of purchase in October, my priorities were safety, low odour and energy saving. I was a total air fryer sceptic but gave it a whirl because my mini oven is on its last legs and needs more cooking time, which costs me money. The reality is that I need not have worried or agonised over the Cosori brand. However, the golden rule is never to leave an air fryer unattended, regardless of the brand you purchase and unplug it immediately after use.

The reality check for me, one month into using the newer model Cosori, is that it has not changed my life, or replaced the mini-oven entirely, has a feint chemical smell due to the materials, does not cook an entire meal at once, will need cleaning and might save on electricity depending on how often I use it. Yes, the results are healthier because I allow food to drip. Therefore, I do not recommend using liners or tin foil in an air fryer for health and safety reasons. Non-stick cookware will only last a finite time; pots and frying pans always need replacing, and air fryers are no exception.

The Cosori does give off a faint chemical odour, to begin with, and yes, this dissipates over time, but it will be relative to...

New Cambridge Mom: For its capacity (4 qts), it has a fairly small footprint and the sleek design makes it less obtrusive than some other airfryers of the same capacity. I can easily fry 6 drumsticks or 4 medium chicken thighs and the skin comes up crispy each time. The pre-set cooking options work pretty well, and you can easily adjust the temp/time up and down to your liking. The controls are super intuitive, no mystery to any of them. I like the "shake" reminder too. Clean-up is super easy, I've been using disposable paper liners so even after about 10 uses (with a light rinse in between), the basket looks like it's brand spanking new. So far I've cooked homemade fries and roasted vegetables (in rendered chicken fat after making fried chicken), and fried chicken (dry rub) and these have turned out pretty well - the fried chicken is the most successful dish so far. I haven't figured out how to make good homemade wet-battered / breaded chicken cutlets yet though. I also haven't figured out how to make the bluetooth connection with the Alexa in our kitchen, but have monitored the cooking status of the airfryer using the app remotely - so that's been a more useful feature than the former.

Castrogenil: Tras leer los excelentes comentarios sobre este producto y sobre el método de cocinar que tiene me animé y compré esta freidora por aire. Después de haberla estado usando durante unas semanas detallo mis impresiones:

1.- El producto en sí. La freidora es bonita, no ocupa demasiado y sobre todo la parte del panel táctil de la parte superior es práctica y elegante. El cierre del cestillo no me convence tanto, dado que hay que ejercer fuerza para cerrar y abrir. Ya veremos con el tiempo cómo se porta porque da la impresión de ser un tanto propenso a roturas. La rejilla interior es práctica y fácil de limpiar. El problema es que trae unas piezas de silicona para facilitar que quede un tanto levantada y el aire circule por debajo. Esas piezas son muy propensas a salirse o romperse y perderse, y hasta donde he visto, no hay recambios para ellas. Puede que me equivoque, pero estoy convencido de que es lo primero que va a fallar del aparato.

2.- El método de cocinado. Aquí me voy a extender un poco, porque creo que es donde más se puede ayudar a futuros compradores:

- Es un cocinado sin aceite. Sí y no. Se puede cocinar sin NADA de aceite, pero entonces...

M.A E.: This was an excellent purchase. Very user friendly, easy to maintain and clean. The overall size of the COSORI Air Fryer 5 QT is perfect for small to large size cooking. I am not a fan of too many kitchen appliances but I will say that this is well worth the investment for what it does and the rewards that it yields to your time management, nutrition and economic needs. Overall design and color is sleek, and simple, a little more boxy for my taste and space availability but I am able to live with it for the benefits that it yields.

Food experimentation was successful each time. The lamb chops came out excellent although I would try a lower temperature to begin the cooking process and finish it with the preset temperature at a shorter interval. The steak fries was also an excellent tester that passed the experimentation. The giant prawns cooked to the exact specification of tenderness on the preset temperature for seafood. This appliance is powerful from the standpoint of its cooking ability. I can put the ingredients in an 20-30 minutes later its done to the perfection that I require without having to spare a moment to keep an eye on it while I am busy with another...

JazzmanJazzman: I've owned a number of different brands of Air Fryers over the past 10 years and it has been very hit or miss. I moved into a smaller place recently and wanted a new Air Fryer that was better suited for smaller spaces and not take up too much counterspace. I searched long and hard and decided on this one. There is another version of this one that is slightly smaller and is WiFi enabled. I elected to go with this one since I could not think of a situation that I would want to control this unit remotely (although you can see the WiFi indicator on the touch screen, it doesn't light up and there is no WiFi functionality in this unit. I assume the control panel on the WiFi version is exactly the same or they plan to make this one WiFi enable in the future as the reason for it being there.

I've used it several times already to cook wings, fish, shrimp, and I even cooked a NY Strip in it (yep! I Air-Fried a steak... I know, I know... I said the same thing to myself that you are thinking while it was cooking), but to my surprise, using the preset worked like a charm. The steak was evenly cooked to a perfect medium well temp, just the way I like it. It was juicy, had a little char...

Albert: Tenía una Cosori de 5.5L que me duró un año porque la cesta interior perdió toda la capacidad antiadherente y, encima, se desatornillaba y al final terminó cayéndose (y rompiéndose) al cabo de algo más de un año y poco. Al decidir comprar una de nuevo por el ahorro de tiempo y de electricidad respecto a un horno, optamos por la de 4.7L dudando un poco por la diferencia de volumen, pero la decisión fue la correcta:

- Mucho más bonita y límpia por fuera: el cristal templado es más fácil y agradecido de limpiar.
- Mucho más silenciosa (pero mucho).
- Más fácil de limpiar: la rejilla escurridora se quita (y se puede cocinar sin ella), y es muchísimo más fácil de limpiar y menos aparatosa.
- Menos opciones, pero más útiles: tiene menos programas (9 vs 11), pero los que han quitado son programas que jamás usé con la de 5.5L, y además esta tiene función Shake manual: es decir, puedes indicar tú si quieres o no quieres el Shake, mientras que con la de 5.5L tenías que elegir un programa que ya lo llevara y cambiar la temperatura y tiempo después.
- Más intuitiva y más fácil de usar: puedes cambiar de temperatura y tiempo sin necesidad de...

AlbecaAlbeca: The media could not be loaded.  Me parece un electrodoméstico muy útil, lo veo como una mezcla entre el horno y la freidora con muchas de sus cosas buenas y algunas cosas que limitan su uso.

En primer lugar, las cosas buenas, la principal yo creo por la que mucha gente mira este tipo de freidoras es por lo que se reduce el uso de aceites, y efectivamente así es, por ejemplo, al freír patatas con echarles un chorrito cuando las tienes cortadas y removerlas para que todas queden un poco impregnadas es suficiente para conseguir que queden deliciosas (no es el sabor idéntico al de fritas, pero están riquísimas también).

También reduce el consumo de grasas al hacer carne, ya que toda la grasa que pueda tener la misma cae al fondo del recipiente y se hace todo como asado pero quitándole gran parte de la grasa.

Además, la comida se cocina muy rápido, en pocos minutos tienes cualquier comida, ya viene con algunos productos predefinidos aunque tu puedes ajustar el tiempo y la temperatura como quieras.

La variedad de cosas que puedes hacer es mucha, yo casi todo lo que hacía en el horno o en la sartén ahora las hago aquí, como empanadillas,...

Para ser una freidora de 4.7 litros el tamaño no es demasiado grande. Tampoco es pequeña, pero se ajusta bien de tamaño.

Este tipo de freidoras sin aceite son geniales para reducir la cantidad de aceite en la dieta.

Trae muchas recetas y también tiene su propia app. Yo personalmente, prefiero buscar recetas por internet, y poner temperatura y el tiempo. Pero siendo que cuesta lo mismo que otras, está bién que tenga hasta tu propia app.

Cuando la pruebes por primera vez, déjala 5-10 min a 230 grados para que saque todo el olor a nueva. Límpiala también!
