Joseph D.: This is the epic, Lord of the Rings knife your grandpa told you about. It’s legendary— robust , versatile, and priced so you can beat the heck out of it and not care about damaging your heirloom civivi knife😅- this is a workman’s knife, and I feel pride when I pull it out off my pocket with all its scratches and gunk- it’s a great companion, and a true survivor. It cannot be destroyed!!! If you like knives and actually use them, you will not be disappointed!

J.C. van den Berge: Great for survival and camping in nature. Folding makes it small and does not show off.

DPA: Strong build, thick blade, would trust it for survival situations involving using it as a tool and not just as a cutting knife. Not quite suitable for daily carry due to size, weight and blade thickness.
I personally chose it as a compact alternative to my outdoors solid fixed blade - can be attached to a belt or put in a pocket without drawing attention.
My remarks are minor - a practically useless belt clip out of the box (needs to be bent a little and the handle surface has to be polished), the handle itself is not ergonomic. Also the top surface of the rocker is ground (similar to the back of the blade) and its sharp corners are not very pleasant when pressing to fold the knife.

Bart L. SchairerBart L. Schairer: Cold Steel SR1 Lite:
Pros:
Fit and finish on this knife are excellent.
4” Blade is strong and sturdy – 5mm thick at top of blade
Blade locks up securely with no wobble
Sharp enough out of the box to slice paper (see attached photo)
Handle provides secure grip
Manufactured in Taiwan rather than China
Con:
Clip has no flexibility, rendering it useless as is, but a small modification makes it work for me
Solution: Since the clip is made from rigid steel, I could not get it to clip on the leg pocket of my Carhartt pants. After placing a small washer under the middle (lower) screw of the clip (see attached photo), this angled the clip up just enough that it now has just the right amount of tension on the seam at the top of my leg pocket. A slight amount of push gets the clip over the top seam of the pocket and then has no pressure on the main fabric of the pocket, so it should not cause undo wear on the fabric. I need not worry about the knife falling out of my pocket, should I become inverted, because it won’t go back over the top seam without my tugging on it a bit to get it out. I wanted to use a (properly flexible) clip from another...

Medic.WVMedic.WV: This knife's thick blade stock (.19in/4.5mm), combined with the 2/3rds, shortish flat grind, results in a less-than-ideal slicing capability for common EDC tasks like cardboard, vinyl hoses, food prep, etc, that you would do better with thinner blades, due to the significant behind the edge thickness of the SR1, which intentionally adds to edge/blade durability, at the cost of slicing capability. The edge however is shaving sharp (est 25deg) as expected from all Cold Steel knives, so it works just fine on small tasks like box opening, 550 cord and cloth (and heavy duty use, of course). This version of the SR1 is not as polished/finished as the S35vn/G10 version: the top spine of both the blade and lock on mine had some sharp edges that needed to be taken down with a dual sided diamond sharpener (Schrade), and there are cosmetic tool marks under the lockbar. Also, the main blade screw loosened quickly, which I noticed while doing "death grip" testing for blade/lock movement… the blade started rattling side to side when closed). I'd suggest you find the perfect tension on this screw for your opening tension preference, then blue locktite it in place. Also, like all CS folders, the...

Aldaytona: Had a Buck 110 for years, a S&W Tactical, an assortment of other mid grade knives, and a Benchmade SOCP Dagger, BUT everyday, every time I leave the house I carry a Cold Steel folder. I have small, medium, and large. Love the ultra strong blade locking of my Cold Steel models.
Carry what you like, I'll carry Cold Steel, thank you.
