Silverpixi: This product did not work, it was so hard to turn the bottom. The actual snake part was easy to use, but could not completely finish unclogging the sink. Even the replacement didn't work. I even had someone else try to turn it..didn't work for him either.

T.H.T.H.: This little steel snake allows you to slide it through the drain grate/cover without having to try and remove the grate with crusty bolts. I used this for the shower drain by sliding the snake through the drain grate/cover hole and pulled out a hair clog I was able to piece back through the drain cover.
If you've ever tried to remove the screws that hold your shower drain cover on, you understand that 9 out of 10 times they are frozen, stuck and won't budge. This snake allows you to snake the drain without having to deal with the frozen screws. Worked perfect.
Just for those that are confused, you rotate the entire thing in your hand, spin the entire tool with the cable locknut tight and that turns the snake cable end. There is no stationary piece and a piece that rotates....you rotate the entire tool.

sah mom: I used this in our bathroom sink and it worked great! The drain cleared and we haven't had any new issues in the last couple months. I tried using it in my bathtub drain but it had a hard time turning the proper direction at the T junction. I need to remove the stopper plug and try again but it doesn't really need to be snaked at this point. I was just excited and wanting to try it. Overall, it takes up a small amount of space and does the trick. Sometimes you have to pull it back to get it to feed through more.

Amazon Customer: I work at at plumbing supply and I know a thing or two about plumbing. Most people complain about not turning or breaking the pipes or it's junk. That's because you have no idea what you are doing. 1/8 can fit directly into a strainer instead of removing the trip lever to put the 1/4 inch is why this is so convenient These are consider manual auger and not power, so will be harder to manually turn the whole cable. Turning the bottom does not turn the snake but the whole housing with the locked snake. That is why you have to lock the cable once you can't feed it anymore. As for pipe breaking that means your pipes are really old, about to break, and totally forced it. Best part about this is that the snake is 1/8 of an inch instead of 1/4 which most places sell for the smallest size snake. Tho 1/8" snake is a great size for light clogs and very handy. This is not for traveling so compact design of the housing is not so great in my opinion. The rib at the bottom of the housing design for turning is a not so great, because you will have to use your fingers to turn the whole snake which is very tiring. Would be better if they added a pistol grip to the neck that would allow the drum to...

media601: I don't understand the negative reviews that say, "The handle doesn't turn." It's not designed to! I had my drain cleared in less than two minutes without instructions, but if you want instructions, here they are:
1. Remove plastic safety tip.
2. loosen set screw on side.
3. Pull out springy, snakelike thing.
4. Tighten set screw.
5. Insert snake thingy into drain. Loosen set screw to adjust length if necessary.
6. Push, spin clockwise (the whole darn handle and everything,) bounce it up and down, Twist some more, then pull it out.

I did all that and my drain was clear. YMMV.
