Clek Olli Backless Booster Car Seat: Keep Your Little One Safe and Secure on the Road

DH: I ordered the "Olli" model over the "Ozzy" and frankly am underwhelmed. My wife is very particular about the car seats we buy for the kids, we've probably spent at least $2k over the years on the highest rated Britax and Clek car seats. I recently purchased another vehicle and went with a Clek as I know she would approve.

The click in system for the LATCH anchor points works well for holding the seat in place, the quick release on the front also makes it very easy to remove it. However, I can't imagine a scenario where I would need to remove it in 10 seconds. It came with a carry strap which I guess would be good for the airport but in generally I don't walk around with booster seats attached to me. ;-)

It also came with a cup holder which is sort of cheap, it attaches to the seat by sliding into a pocket in the fabric which is located on the RIGHT side of the seat only. If your kid is sitting on the driver's side of the vehicle, this means their drink will be located in the center of the vehicle, which means when it inevitably gets spilled it will be dump into the center of the seat.

ElleTee: I ordered these based on the easy to install reviews. I owned a previous pair of booster seats that were impossible not to break a nail when you took them out of the car. These were by far the easiest to install and uninstall. The quality was okay. I wasn’t impressed with the plastic arm holder or the really hard seat cushion. I debated on keeping them, but I looked at another brand that not only had a latch system but an additional seatbelt restraint and who’s quality looked much better in a luxury vehicle.

Jaime Miramontes: Muy buen producto; mi hija lo usa sin problema, y quedo muy bien en los autos. Fácil de instalar y quitar.
Los brazos del asiento son de plástico rígido, es lo único que me hubiera gustado fuera más cómodo.
La etiqueta que muchos dicen se ve fea al frente, para mi no fue problema alguno; además creo que hay fundas para este modelo.

Amazon Customer: I purchased this booster for my new car that has black leather interior. I bought it to replace a basic Graco booster. I purchased it for two reasons :1) I did not want to have a booster with some horrid floral print, polka dots, or cartoon characters on it as a semi permanent fixture in my backseat, nor did I want one that was some obnoxious color. I don't know why the major manufactures don't offer a wider variety of neutral options. 2) this booster is also one of the only backless ones that actually attaches to the vehicle's LATCH system as opposed to just laying on top of the seat.

PROS: First and foremost, I feel this is a much safer booster than the previous one I had simply because it does latch onto the seat. Not only does it stay in place during quick stop moments while my kid is riding in it, it also stays securely in place when my daughter is not riding in it. The last thing I want is to get in a collision and an empty booster seat to come flying off the seat and hitting me (we've all heard the story about the Kleenex box flying off the back dash and severely injuring the driver). D. J. Larson: I struggled with whether to give this seat a four-star review or a five-star review, as I was right on the fence. Here are my thoughts:

Firstly, in some cars it is shockingly easy to install this seat ... you just push it in and "click", you are good to go. That said, there are other cars, including one of the two I drive, where installing it is extremely difficult. In my case the connectors are hidden well behind the cushions of the back seat, and pushing the Clek through the cushions and getting it to "lock" in can be very time-consuming. If you have a way of testing it in your own vehicle prior to buying it, I strongly recommend it. All that said, when this seat does get locked in properly it is SECURE. Even your most aggressively installed child car seat has a little bit of wiggle from side to side, and that is especially true with seats secured by seatbelts. This little Clek DOES NOT MOVE.

Another observation is just the "nature of the beast" of any backless booster seat: My six-year old daughter occasionally uses the seat (we still use her regular child car seat except in special circumstances) and, like any six-year old she falls...
