Erin M Dupre: This is my toddlers favorite book. I don't know why, it's cute enough, but to me it's inocuous, but it's my toddlers favorite so 5 stars. 😛

Gilda: I’m so impressed with this book! It’s visually pleasing with engaging story telling, and on top of all that it holds such a great message. It’s fun for parents to read and also hooks in a toddler with the “whoosh” pages. Such a hit with my 2 year old. I just have to make sure I store it up high so he doesn’t accidentally rip the pages like he’s done with other favorite non board books. Love love love.

Lisa Ingrassia: Love reading this with my 2.5 year old! Like other Chris Haughton books, this story has some great elements that offer repetition and really engage my daughter. It's an endearing story about overcoming fears, and has really vibrant illustrations.

ZN: I bought this for my 2 year old after having read her Oh No, George!, A Bit Lost, Shh, We Have A Plan and Goodnight Everyone during her first year to 18 months. We moved house and she started to 'look' for a book she remembered after 5 months of having not seen it.... "where is the book about the little crab?" I ordered it again because we were in a different country and hadn't been able to move with all our things, because of Covid. When we'd first read it, 5 months previously, she'd been really scared about the waves in the book and then got more and more used to it - because the message is so wonderful and confidence inspiring. It acknowledges fear and feeling scared of something huge and overwhelming that we have no control over, but it shows support from the 'big crab' and the fact that trying something new can bring you wonderful experiences and a sense of adventure. It was so clear it had resonated with her at the time of first reading and when she was feeling anxious she remembered it and looked for it! (I was amazed and happy she had something to reach for). It's a truly beautiful story, really in tune with children and those deep feelings we all experience, and just...

Amy P: I love the look of this book, and the shape too- it’s quite a large, square book (in the hardback version at least!) The colours are bright and cheerful and the style is modern. I would quite happily have prints from this book on my wall! The story doesn’t rhyme, which is usually my preference in a children’s book, but there is some nice repetition and use of sound to add interest.
My three-year-old is OBSESSED with this book. It is a simple plot with few words but it keeps her totally engrossed and has been her most-asked-for book for the past six months!

Ryan D. Fogle: This book is just the right length to keep our 2.5 year olds attention before bed. The tiny crab experiences a roller coaster of feelings from fear and doubt, to wonderment and pride on this grand adventure from its tiny tide pool home to the ocean. The illustrations are beautiful and become more colorful with the turn of each page which has a way of adding to the suspense and excitement.
