Smart Shopper: It serves a purpose but I eventually just went back to hard boiled eggs because cleanup got annoying. It’s hard to scrub the little area where the egg cooks.

WriterMama92: I’m not overly impressed. It will cook the egg, but I find I have to cook it longer in this poscher than I would if I just boiled it in regular water. The instructions are about a size 4 font, and very hard to read on the back of the packaging. You will want to spray the inside of the poacher with oil, but, of course, since the poacher fills with water, this is only moderately successful. It’s not a bad little gadget, but I’m really no further ahead than when I used plain boiling water and carefully dropped the eggs in. Also, you want to add a teaspoon of white vinegar to the water, so that it cooks properly. This isn’t included in the instructions, either.

Sheila B: This product is a nice idea but it is poorly executed. First the white cover can be removed for cleaning, but it’s a pain in the @$$ to replace.

You have to use a ton of grease or oil to keep the egg from sticking if you cook the egg inside the cup (which is the intention of this product).

Ultimately I tossed it after one use because it was just so much harder than a silicone pinch bowl that is used before buying this. If I could have gotten it adequately clean after the first use, I would have tossed the silicone cover and simply used the metal part to lower the egg into the water for a direct poach, but because it was so hard to clean it was just so much garbage.

It’s a nice concept, but very poorly executed.

Adam C Petersen: I was looking for an affordable device to make poaching eggs easier. This product failed on every level. Elevator version of this review: DON’T BUY IT!

Firstly, the thing just feels flimsy. Cheap metal, cheap silicone, and as I learned cheap construction. After one use the little metal cup disconnected from the metal handle and I realized the three legs are attached with tiny dabs of glue. All that said, the thing was $5 so grain of salt here.

Secondly, and more importantly, this device is extremely messy. I took the extra step of greasing the inside of the cup to ensure the egg didn’t stick, but that hardly mattered. The poached egg still stuck in places and when trying to clean it afterwards (after the device had broken) I realized how impossible it would be to thoroughly clean it. There were bits of egg all over in places I never would have reached had the cup not become disconnected. Also, there was no benefit to the device being in the pot. The water still got nasty and could have boiled over the rim if not watched.

Finally, I found it difficult to get the cooked egg out of the device. Again, I only got one attempt at it before it...
