M. Tom: They work exactly as they ought. When I heat up the grill it gets hot and stays hot. I can turn off the grill and finish cooking the burgers which saves me $$ on gas and the heat is even all the way across my grill. My 1/2 lb burgers are cooking in 5-10 mins for well done! Very happy I got these. My grill took more than one package, almost a whole box more but that's OK. I'll save the overage for replacements. You do have to turn the bricks over once in a while to cook off the fat that drips on them (after about 10 uses, maybe less) or you'll get larger and larger flames shooting up, but that's a small price to pay for the savings in gas and the convenience these add in even cooking. I'm very happy I got these.

Joni: First off, I’m not using these in my barbecue grill.
I bought them to use for heat retention and added steam when baking bread in my home oven: I place several briquettes layered in a shallow pan, warm up with the oven, then add some water and ice to create steam right before putting my bread in.
Before I got these I was using a pan with old towels soaked in water to create the steam.
Because bread bakes inside a dutch oven, in your oven, and at high temperature (450 F), you need to also add steam to allow for the loaf to bloom during the first part of the bake. Then you remove it for second part of the bake, or can leave in if all water has evaporated. (Okay, lesson over now-LOL!)
I honestly expected to have better results using these vs. my towels method, but I don’t see much difference. The positive is the fact that I’m not dealing with a shallow pan of steaming water and hot towels risking to get burned when removing them mid-bake.
That said, a couple of observations on this specific product:

Gabo: Son buenas, pero serviría que tuviera más instrucciones, para saber el sentido de cómo colocarlas, instrucciones para curarlas, el como limpiarlas, etc.
Ya usándolas son buenas, ayudan a nivelar las zonas calientes, incluso he dejado el quemador central una ves que están bien calientes (300°f) trabajando solo y funciona mucho mejor que no tenerlas.... en zonas donde no está directo sobre el quemador. En fin, todo bien.
