Celestron 70mm Travel Scope The Celestron 70mm Travel Scope is the perfect telescope for amateur astronomers who are just getting started. This portable refractor telescope features fully-coated glass optics for clear, crisp images of the night sky. Plus, it comes with a bonus astronomy software package to help you get the most out of your stargazing experience. With its easy to use design, portability, sturdiness, and build quality, the Celestron 70mm Travel Scope is one of the best refractors on the market. Javascap: If you get this telescope, I'd encourage you to keep your expectations in check. It's not a great one, the tripod is wobbly as all hell and has no options for fine adjustments and the only way to adjust it is to loosen the scope and manually move it where you want to go, hoping the scope will "fall" where you want it to go when you finish adjusting. I've had more success adjusting the legs to get the scope in position than adjusting the scope.
The included bag is a perfect fit for the telescope and the tripod while still having room for some additional accessories. I carry a solar filter and a lunar filter in there just fine, a long with the included rangefinder and eye lenses. The bag isn't exactly quality, but it does what it needs to do.
The scope itself is... Cheap. It's mostly made of what feels like plastic. But it's lightweight and easy to carry around. Everything about this telescope is merely good enough. It's not great, but I'd you keep your expectations in check it's a reasonable backup to have laying around to view larger objects or things in the distance on solid ground.

William Porto: TL;DR Review: Great portable scope. Get a separate tripod - tripod wobbles.
Definitely recommended for anyone who would like to take a scope with them on a trip, for someone who doesn't have the space for a permanently mounted scope, for a student whose interested in astronomy, or as a fun add-on to keep in the trunk on trips to anywhere. It’s small, lightweight, and priced right. It’s light enough that a five-year old could carry it for an entire trip without effort, giving them direct participation in the setup process.
This is an amazing little telescope which you can easily take anywhere you're going. Looking at the moon, you'll be able to see the moon in fantastic detail, clearly seeing the ridges of the craters peaking above the moon's northern pole. Aimed at any patch of the sky, stars will become visible when before you saw nothing but darkness.
As with all telescopes with this magnification, you will not see the individual rings of Saturn, but you will be able to make out the halo of the rings. Jupiter's moons, though, will be easy to spot, but speaking of spots, you won't see Jupiter's red-spot. Mars and Venus are indistinctive.
As for...

1. montatura: no, no e ancora no: non ci siamo proprio! Si tratta del vero punto debole di questo kit! Si può capire che la partabilità sia alla base del kit, ma questa montatura è un treppiede che a malapena si può utilizzare per macchine fotografiche. Purtroppo è un miglioramento da fare prima o poi, se si vuole continuare con questa passione: è poco stabile, non è comoda per le osservazioni e le viti tendono ad avere un po' troppo gioco;
2. puntatore: fa il suo, né bene né male. Poco intuitivo da allineare al tubo, ma va benissimo per principianti;
3. prisma: è ben realizzato, molto luminoso e anche abbastanza solido, peccato che sia 45° il che significa che per guardare il cielo o lo cambiate o vi abituate a mettervi in pose strane e poco comode. Abbinato alla montatura, rischia di diventare quasi un dramma a volte;
4. oculari: siamo già un gradino sopra tutto il resto. Intendiamoci, non...

Dan: Celestron travel scope is a good product for what it is made for. It is primarily a terrestrial viewing scope. The objective (large lens in front of the scope) is good quality and is functional. However, the eyepieces that come with the scope are (in my opinion) lower quality (this is probably done to keep the total cost of the scope low). Without a decent eyepiece the experience of viewing objects will be minimal.
What I did was invest about $25.00 (they can be higher priced - based on quality) in a good quality 20mm x1.25 inch (a good standard starting size) "Plossel" type eyepiece (several listed on Amazon for under $30.00). The addition of a higher quality eyepiece really changed the viewing experience with this scope. Or, if you want to get into astronomical viewing with this scope Celestron makes an Observers Accessory Kit (#94308- you can get it on Amazon - about $70.00). It comes with two Plossel eyepieces -17mm and 6mm-, a moon filter (definitely will need it to bring down the glare if observing the moon), a 2X Barlow lens (doubles the magnification of the eyepieces), and two planetary filters, and a case. It seems like a well put together and thought out accessory kit...

DavidDavid: For around fifty quid this is a decent little travel ‘scope. The main tube is aluminium, the objective lens is an air spaced doublet, and its dual photo-tripod / dovetail mount will also allow it to fit on a proper astronomical equatorial mounting. Throw in a backpack, a couple of eyepieces, an erecting prism and a tripod and you have an excellent value package.
The bundled eyepieces are considerably better than expected for the money and give x40 and x20 magnifications (10mm and 20mm respectively). The rack & pinion focuser and the objective lens mount unfortunately are both made of plastic. The tripod is wobbly when the legs are extended and the pan/tilt head is not the smoothest I’ve seen - but it is better than nothing and you can always buy a decent photographic tripod or even a proper equatorial mount later. The optics of this package may not be perfect but they are fine for direct visual use - offering sharp detail, low colour fringing and fairly wide flat-field views. Whilst perfectly usable as a spotter, you should note that the 'scope is not weather-proof.
I bought this on a whim – interested to see whether it might be usable as a telephoto lens....

E. Gray: "The best telescope is the one you use the most" so they say. I have searched the internet, read hundreds of articles, read magazines, toyed with the idea of getting a 'proper' telescope (such as the Celestron Astromaster 114 reflector or the refractor 70AZ) but had a moment of clarity: apart from the first few weeks, when am I REALLY likely to go to the effort of setting up a big scope? I mean they're really big and unless you keep it by the back door it means lugging it down stairs, plonking it in the yard and wrestling with the various knobs and bits to, finally, get a view of the moon or a nebula. Sure, they'll look good but to be honest, like my rice-cooker or the sandwich toaster it'll sit there gathering dust and eventually end up broken or in the loft...
Now, I thought of binoculars but, I have some of those and they're 10x mag. They're fine if you like to see streaks of light as the stars zip about your vision like fireworks. Get a tripod? Well, for the money, big (I say big when actually the biggest are only 15x) binos are not all that great and like someone on already said Amazon saide you'll need to be Data from Star Trek if you plan on holding them - forget it. No...

Cliente Amazon: Tutto a posto, telescopio facile da usare e molto utile anche lo zainetto per portarlo in giro. L’unico problema è il treppiedi che non sempre è stabile.
I vari corpi celesti si vedono bene.
