Elvie: I've had it for a few weeks only and am still in the '50s, just soaking up every word...
Extremely well written (as Vanity Fair always is), it's a an American history chronicle as well as the iconic magazine's evolution through time.
Reads like a novel and feels like a "behind the scenes" at the Oscars at every point in time, with all the celebrity tidbits... so much more than a coffee table book!
If you enjoy the magazine, you'll love this compilation so masterfully (and lovingly) put together by Mr. Carter and his collaborators.

Leslie HLeslie H: Love the book inside and out. Very large. Unfortunately, as some other reviewers stated, it arrived with some shipping damage. Not sure why they are shipping a large heavy book in a shipping bag instead of a box. At least protect the corners.
