Miata Mrs.: What an adventure Ms. Hyde took two young sisters on. I enjoyed reading about their adventure and the people they met….some great, some nice and some horrible. I can’t imagine having the guts to do what these girls did on their own. Quite the journey! Heartwarming! I highly recommend this book to everyone. You won’t be disappointed!

Hope Glassman: Easy to pick up and read even in the middle of the story. Different backgrounds, different cultures yet the writer lets us learn and grow with the characters. She understands the humanity that unites us all so we with the characters can weather the plot twists and challenges in our world. I think this is a great young adult read.

genej101: to not give five stars to, though the subject matter is hard, from start to finish. I’ve got a lot in common with Carly, as a child and still as a 74 year old single man. I never could ask for help and do everything in my power to not do so now. I don’t suppose it is a thing I will ever change, which will have an impact on the rest of my life as well, but that’s me. I do know how to say thank you and always have, I just try to avoid situations where it is necessary.

Carly’s had a hard life, a horrible mother more interested in men than her children. I’ve known a lot of people like that both men and women, I worked 42 years in a system that dealt with those issues. I won’t go through all of the issues the book brings up but the traditions of Native American peoples, particularly those of the Hopi I am somewhat familiar with and I do think they have the right outlook on life, better than any male created religion anyway.

I’m a little disappointed Carly didn’t believe her sister when she told her she’d been molested, I’m a little disappointed she didn’t stay in California, let herself go into the child care system, go on to college and make a life...

R. Cook: This is one of my favorite authors but I had some issues with this book. The main character is a smart mouth teen and hard to like much of the time. I also do not like stories that jump back and forth between past and present. This was the most annoying thing of all. Overall a decent story but not up to par with her other books that I have enjoyed in the past.

Sherry G.: The only downside for me was the switching back and forth from “now” to “then”. Finally got a handle on it, mostly. The story is hard to read yet believable. Carly’s struggles opened my eyes to the hardship and danger of homelessness. It is very real.

Chris Duff: Very enjoyable although I guessed the ending but none the less well written. I will definitely be reading more of her books.

haggis: I have enjoyed many books by this author. This story pulled at my heart strings. I cried many times for Carly’s lack of loving support but truly admired her tough determination. It’s a story I would enjoy following the characters progress. Thank you for a good tale well told.

Sidney Carlos Praxedes: Estória legal. Muito interessante para quem quer conhecer o outro lado da fronteira com os EUA e entender que são seres humanos que tentam atravessá-la.
