Barbara H. Partee: My son just installed the gate for me this evening -- I'm very glad to have a walk-through dog gate instead of an 18" fence to step over - MUCH safer! (I'm 83 and my husband is 88 and although we've been fine with two much-used door fences for 7 years, we had to agree with our kids that those were accidents waiting to happen.) It appears to be a very good gate, so I've just ordered a second one to replace the other fence. The only complaint: as he was tightening one of the 4 screws to hold the wall cups, he maybe tightened it more that its limit and the head of the screw just broke right off, leaving the shaft of the screw in the wall. He made do somehow, but that was an unhappy surprise -- just surprised at such a low-quality screw!

Heather: This is exactly what I was looking for, for the price.
Cons: I do wish the cat door was either removable or had a flatter profile when the door is open. The open cat door will either scuff the wall or be a tripping hazard as a person walks through the door unfortunately. I also don’t like how the tension pieces aren’t permanently attached to the gate. We move our gate frequently due to pets and having pieces that can easily fall out when we’re storing the gate or moving it to a different room is annoying.
Pros: The gate seems good quality and it was really easy to put together. This gate keeps dogs separate from our cat as needed and allows a human to easily move from room to room.

StevenSteven: After assembly, the gate latch would not open. Upon disassembly of the latch, I found the cause to be the bent metal plate in the attached photo. This should have been obvious during assembly and a simple operation check would have caught it so I can only assume that is not a step in the assembly process.
Aside from this, the fit of the plastic housing to the metal gate is poor; it was quite dirty upon arrival, and in general it feels cheap.
I can't recommend this product.

Stephen AdamsStephen Adams: I bought this for an upcoming move to let my dog out the back without removing the gate but I wish I got it sooner. My cats are getting older and they just don't like hopping over it anymore. The mini doorway is wide enough even my 17lb boy walks through easily. And my petite female can slip through the side if she wants. I had to use a hammer to insert the spring-loaded nail through the hinge. I was worried it wouldn't go through at all.
I wouldn't consider my hallway wide (39.5") but I still felt the need to mount it along a doorway to have a tighter fit. Another extender would have helped. This is NOT a baby gate so I'm not rating it like one. A toddler could knock this over, probably figure out the opening mechanism, or even squeeze through the cat door. I only recommend this for PETS. Particularly ones that respect boundaries. My beagle could knock it over if he wanted but he knows better. Wish I could pop the cat door off it's hinges but it's in there tight.

A.Wilson: I bought this gate for the 2 cats, a brother and sister we are fixing to bring home in a month. I am in the process of turning the extra bedroom into a cat room that will be just for them. A safe place while they adjust to a new home as they are already 6-7years old and have spent most of their lives living with my mother and stepfather. While they are used to us, and our dog as we house/cat sit every year when they go on vacation, they will still have an adjustment to make with new surroundings. They both have had issues with the other cats that have slowly gotten worse over the years, basically they only like each other and are inseparable so we think this will be a happiest situation for them in the long run as we haven't had a cat here for years and my sons, who are the younger of my 3 kids are almost 13. I love that this gate has the cat door that will slow them to come and go without our large dog being able to follow, or to get to the litter box area and food area. We have installed cat shelves and stuff around the house as well as the sister is a serious climber and my mother is tired of her getting up in their cabinets and stuff. This gate is a step above the old walk...

Prairie Nomad: We now have cat-friendly pass-though zones that keep me from yelling at the dogs for eating the cats' food! These gates look good, set up quickly (if you read the instructions, and follow them completely!!) and truly do work exceptionally well. I purchased the extra wide gates because my hallway and kitchen entrance are not normal sized openings. I did have to add a 1x1x30" piece of wood to the hallway wall because it is so wide, but even without securing that wood with screws it is firmly held in place by the pressure of the gate's screw mechanisms.

C Obieglo: We have two cats, and a 5 month old puppy. We've had issues with him having the munchies. Not only will he eat the cat food, but he also has enjoyed the taste of the cat poo.
We have the cat area in the laundry room, where they can eat, drink, and poop. There is a door to this room but we have to leave it open so cats can do said business. Puppy also likes to go into that room.
This gate was a snap to set up, almost didn't need instructions and was well put together. Thanks for the warning that the gap in the product prior to being set up was intentional (you'll see, it's big yellow stickers ALL OVER THE PLACE).
Locks the puppy out of the poo smorgasbord and the little kitty door lets them do what they need to do. I only wish both my cats were smart enough to realize there's a door there. One of them took to it no problem and walks through it as intended. The other one needs to read the manual or something. He thinks there's a wall there and can't get through. We're working with him on it.
He was also scared when we moved his food bowl 2 feet to the left last month, so we have some work to do with him.

SamanthaSamantha: Really nice gate! I like the height, it fits my doorway well with the extension :) My little ones can fit through the door (although my older dog who is mostly blind is a little scared but that's OK. I really like how tall this is because with my previous gate (was just a disassembled Xpen from when my Frenchie was a pup) I was concerned with getting my Standard Poodle next year as they are quite tall and I felt like she would probably be able to step over my previous one so I was looking for a solution for next year but since my Frenchie decided to figure out how to get out of the previous gate I had up I decided to just bite the bullet and get this one. For the price ($50 CAD) it is pretty good. I like it, it looks nice, seems to stay up well and assembly & installation were pretty easy!
Had to get a second one because even when pressure was applied to the first one, the gap did not close as instructed
But really just follow the instructions because if you just assemble it before mounting it to the wall, you will think it's broken or defective, it really is pressure-based and the gap WILL close.
I find it is slightly shaky (maybe because my drywall is kind of crap...

J. D. Currie: Gate was easy to assemble and fit exactly as expected. Gate and pass through door comparable to more expensive gates purchased recently. Cat door is a huge bonus. Other gates used on a standard doorway have forced us to extend one side and compress other to leave enough of a gap for the cats to squeeze through. This leaves the gate centered and better distributes stress and still allows the cats to slip past. We use gates for a puppy who is now 45lbs and rambunctious at 10 months old. Our other gates are similar products, and the dog hasn't pushed past the first two gates, we expect this will be just as sturdy. Overall-Great price- better features and appears very sturdy-fit for purpose as dog gate.
