Barbara Matthews: I have bought and given this book to many people that were, and are, caregivers as I was. This is the first and only self help book I have read and used as I cared for my husband for over 14 years. Tremendous mental help, letting me know I wasn’t the only one going through what it takes to watch the loosing of af a mate. Great little book!

V. Shadlow: This book covers a VERY WIDE VARIETY of TOPICS WELL. It's just that as a care giver, you don't have that kind of time to read everything, and continue giving good care. Read through the Table of Contents and hit the sections that "strike" / "Call out to" you. Somewhere in the beginning of the book, it does say that. That said, I got my answers about the seniors behaviors. "What to Do If...." sections are helpful for a lot of occurences. I felt like it covered 98 % of what you will run into. That is pretty good. My senior was exhausting me with his needs[take me here; take me there....Can you pick up for me...(I call to ask which one do you want...Oh, while you are there, can you also get....and then go....). I needed to set boundaries (I have something to do afterwards, next time I will...). I failed to set boundaries. I burned out, and then had to cut off contact [put on my oxygen mask], once, twice, and then for months on end. I found other 'friends' burned out and 'just disappeared'....The senior attends a senior day care now; happy as a clam. I have remade contact, but just don't make it a regular thing like before.

ACT: Have just started reading this book which has explained, in layman’s terms, what a family member is currently experiencing which helps me understand how to interact. Excellent book.

Anne Marsh: A most amazing book. I wish I had this years ago. It would have helped so much with lots of frustration we have had. I would tell anyone dealing with a relative or friend with dementia, to please buy the book and read.
