Turk999: This is a well-built, good quality wire stripper. It has notches for solid copper wire and for stranded. Except, you can’t tell which is for which! There is no marking to show which one is for stranded and which is for solid! Other than that when I wish to strip #14 I use the #12 notch which cuts away the insulation without scratching or denting the copper at all. I am quite happy with this modus operandi!

OwhatagoosiamOwhatagoosiam: Since I have trouble with old manual Klein Tools Multi Tool, stripper, crimper, wire cutter, cutting some of the strands of stranded wire, no matter how careful I am, probably due to my never aligning the wire and the striper precisely, I decided to give an automatic stripper a try.
GLAD I DID. So far, I’ve used the Capri stripper on both stranded and solid wires from 12 to 18 gauges with perfect results, No scored or cut strands and no scoring on the solid wire.
With my old one, I used to try using one size larger than the actual gauge in order to avoid cutting some strands, but it was often hard to cut through the insulation and I still cut some of the strands, but with this automatic stripper, I simply use the same size stripper opening as the actual wire gauge.
I do use the optional guide/wire stop that you can add to the tool to regulate the strip length of the strip for consistent strips. although it is a bit cumbersome. However, the stop is easily removed and stored without affecting the stripper.
The optional guide/wire stop is easy to install and the plastic stop can easily be removed and stored away if not needed. It does help get consistent...

I dont know why I didn't get one of these 20 years ago...
And even though the Capri, doesnt come with its own built in cutter. I already own over 10 wire cutters, and so for me the stop guide works for me...😎
One thing I wish these came with a case. That has pockets to upgrade, and add other AWG cutter Head's. Nothing too bulky, but enough to get the thing in my larger toolbox. A way to keep other tools from clanking against it, damaging it. While not in use.
