David C: I purchased these to add more sounds to my cajone. After trying several locations, I found the best place for me was on my left side. I tap on it and I strum it. Sometimes it sounds like a cymbal, other times a snare, depending on how I use it. I found it helpful to use only 3 nails instead of 4 when installing, giving it some flex. Good quality material. I cut the 2nd snare in unequal lengths, giving me "brushes" for a cool added sound, too.
