D. H.: Sadly the plastic on this is very thin and it was sent back. It does appear to be the tulips of plastic that will crack in time it’s brittle - from the pics we thought it was more rubbery. Most in the stores are like this though.

Amazon Customer: I took a chance because the description just says the pan is “plastic” and some plastic can be brittle and break easily. Fortunately it turns out it is in fact polypropylene so it is somewhat flexible. Important that it’s flexible so that you can maneuver the water heater into it without breaking it. And so that if something bumps into it later it won’t easily break it rendering it useless. The product is fine. Should add “polypropylene” to the description.

Michael: This product can not be used for a gas hot water heater. This is on a warning sticker when you receive the product. It needs to be in the product description so you don’t waste your time on shipping.

B: I use them as drainage trays for my plants. Works pretty good. I still siphon out the last bit of water since it leaves about a quarter inch of water remaining in the tray. Whether your using it for a water heater or for plants its a good product the drain spout attached easily and the foam seal it comes with creates a leak proof seal so no leaks. Good buy saved me some money since i didnt have to spend more money on other drainage options which all were quite a bit more expensive.

Realtor by day, Chef by night: I purchased these to use as saucers under HUGE houseplants that are in massive sized planters inside of our home. I had a hard time finding regular saucers for these pots because they're so large. When I have managed to find a saucer that might work, the price is astronomical and the shipping is as much as the saucer! These are the perfect solution to the problem AND they have a handy dandy drain plug. If I accidentally over-water, I can open the plug and drain the water off. I put these pans under the planter and set the whole thing up onto furniture moving dollies to make turning them and moving them to vacuum really easy. I've bought several of these and they really do the trick.
