Copper: I see reviews where people took off a star or two because when you turn it on its side it doesn't read exactly 90º. I'll try to be civil - after all, if this were a square that would be justified. However, this instrument is an inclinometer, so it has no particular angle between the base and a side. There's no reason the side of the instrument should be exactly 90º to the base. It's telling you the angle of the BASE with respect to STRAIGHT DOWN, NOT to a side! The angle between the base and a side has nothing to do with its accuracy.

To set your table saw blade exactly 90º: (1) Set it base down and facing you, onto the tabletop perpendicular to and near the left side of the blade; (2) press the 'Set 0' button (the On/Off button) momentarily (this locks in the difference between the tabletop and straight down); (3) rotate the instrument counter-clockwise and stick it to the blade. Make sure you have it flat on the blade (if the base is sitting on a tooth it will throw off your setting). (4) Adjust your blade angle to exactly 90º on the instrument. Done. Using this procedure you can set the blade to whatever angle you want - just do steps (1) through (3) and substitute...

A. J. Luna: There are a couple of good reasons for this tool, and its price is better than the value of the tool. Let me first say it did give me a scare initially. After I opened the tool and removed the battery saver, some how it stopped working. Once I opened the case and readjusted the batteries, it worked just fine.

I enjoy its feature of being able to use relativistic comparison angles. It does a great job in being able to tell me if the blade of my saw and the table are square, or if the drill bit and the drill platform are square. The only real issue I have is it needs to have a bubble on it to tell you when its too far forward or back while reading side to side. This makes a difference, and can mean the difference of a couple of degrees.

The magnets are strong and adhere very well. The buttons are a bit too flush for my taste, but seriously its a good tool for the job. I am very happy with it.

The Engineer CriticThe Engineer Critic: AccuMaster product description said "LCD Display Resolution 0.01 degrees at 0-1 and 89-90 degrees; 0.05 degrees at the rest." However, the AccuMaster that I received (Model 7434 v1.1) has an actual display resolution of 0.1 degrees (see photo). In contrast, the similar Neoteck Level Box NTK034 actually does have a display resolution of 0.01 degrees (I bought both -- see photo). I prefer to see 0.01 degrees of resolution as on the Neoteck and do the rounding myself.

User calibration was required on both units.

Both units stay on for about 3 minutes after the last "movement". However, the Accumaster keeps the backlight on for the full time (until 3 minutes have elapsed after the last "movement"), whereas the Neoteck turns off the backlight after 30 seconds without motion (its backlight comes back on if any motion occurs). For both units, power consumption was about 16mA with the backlight on, and Neoteck consumed 7mA with the backlight dimmed. The Neoteck unit is more sensitive to motion, so tends to stay on in cases where the AccuMaster turns off.

Neither the AccuMaster nor the Neoteck Level Box have perfectly square plastic sides, so expect slight...

Adam Lesser: I recently purchased this on the basis of the amazon reviews after reading and comparing with a few other items. Here's a summary of important points about this unit, some of which led me to a return:

1) I can't seem to get true 90 degree reads on the device. I even happened to take it to a sears store and try several different straight edges and levels. In almost all cases after zeroing on one side and then putting on a 90 degree surface, the unit would read between 89.75 or 89.50. I made sure to compare to several different samples and manufacturers of straight-edge, but without a lot of luck.
I even tried the simplest test of all several times on different flat surfaces: zeroing the unit and simply rotating it 90 degrees on it's own square casing, but again, kept getting the 89.5-59.75 readings, which is baffling.

2) I can't seem to get true 0 degree reads on the device, despite comparing it with pretty sensitive bubble levels and other surfaces I believe to be true. It's always the same ~0.2-0.4 degrees off (not dissimilar from the 90 degree reads).

3) The inverting numbers are great, until they actually make the unit hard/read to use as you go slightly...
