Well built, looks very durable and plastic is strong but not brittle. Used for AC inverter connection to Orange Pi, works flawless where 3 others of were sending CRC errors which was either chip or interference

It’s unclear from the product description that this is a null modem cable. I needed a straight cable, so I used a null modem adapter. With the adapter the cable worked great. It’s of good quality. Worked with Linux without installing drivers and recognized immediately. Did what I needed.

I wasn't able to do anything with the switch until I got the cable. I got the switch from surplus and couldn't reset the password so I ordered this cable. Win'11 detected it instantly but Device Manager said it needed drivers. I ran Windows Updates from the Device Manager but it said I'm already using the correct driver. I then downloaded them manually from the Prolific website and installed them. After a reboot Device Manager still said the same thing but another windows update, although it didn't appear to find anything new, Device Manager showed the device is working correctly. I plugged it into the Dell switch and was able to reset the password.

1. It was not stated, but the cable is actually and RS-232 DCE (data communicating equipment cable). This is not what I wanted, but I am completely happy with it. As a DCE cable it will not inherently work with a Cisco or any other device because these devices are also configured as DCE. BUT, THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM! A male-to-male null modem adapter (https://www.amazon.com/Null-Modem-Adapter-Male-Pack/dp/B07GV5PGJ5/) switches the device to a DTE (Data Terminal/Terminating Equipment).

2. It does work with Windows 10 The hardware ID is: USB\VID_067B&PID_2303&REV_0400.
3. The advantage of have a DCE cable around is that it will connect directly to a DTE cable which is great for serial port experimenting and testings. ...and of course, it is no big deal to connect a null modem adapter to make it a DTE cable when I need it.
-BTW: A null modem adapter should be in every engineers kit anyway - what are you doing without one?
4. I love the THIN 10' cable; it fits nicely into my gadgets and equipment bag.

Great fix for the price. A straight RS232 to USB cable did not work.
