seamus: Country of Origin USA , but made in China?, another misleading statement. Welds are spotty, tool is heavy. Looks nice, but the quality control is lacking. Bring it back the the USA! Took me hours to find a tool Made in the USA. What a con!!!!!!!!!!!

Dichterliebe: The Burpee Garden Tool Essentials three-piece set is a solid choice. These tools are steel with wood handles and leather straps, the metal is thick (thicker than some other garden hand tools I own), and they operate about as expected: they turn and manipulate the soil as intended. I find the larger trowel especially effective, as the blade is flatter, wider than the trowel I already own and the depth markings make it more useful in planting. The small rake is spot-welded rather than in one molded piece. You may want to bear this in mind as you use it.
The handles are comfortable and are solid, stained wood. While I have come to appreciate the soft, synthetic rubber handles of my other tools (especially when used for long periods), these wood handles certainly look nicer and the amount of wood used is generous. However, they will absorb moisture from the elements and from hands so they will need to be treated periodically.
Although the picture here at Amazon shows three tools in a polished finish, the tools I received are matte finish. I doubt this has any effect on their performance. Overall, they work as expected but look better and are a level above many of the...
