Burley Encore X: 2-Seat Kids Bike Trailer & Stroller Combo

James Russell: I have been very happy with it and more importantly so has my 1-year-old son. He wants me to take him for a ride in it every time he sees it, despite the fact that he hates wearing a helmet.

CF: I went back and forth on buying this, but finally did and I don't regret it. Some of my favorite things;
1) The suspension! We had a cheap trailer and my daughter absolutely HATED it. Every bump we went over she complained. In the Burley she didn't make a peep.
2) The bench seat. This was a deal breaker for me (I know I wasn't riding in it but I wanted my daughter to be comfy!) It makes a world of difference.
3) The mesh head holes. Again, just a comfort thing that just makes sense!
4) The fact that it EASILY Coverts to a stroller. The stroller wheel folds up onto the bike arm - it doesn't get in the way - you don't have to bring an extra wheel with you.
5) The storage in the back. Water bottles, toys, jackets, it all fits!
Again.... Just buy it!

Mrs. H BMrs. H B: I purchased this trailer on sale. It was easy to assemble (assembled it myself), although my husband was the one to secure it to my bike. I have a Huffy e-bike and it was able to attach perfectly. The trailer has ample storage; I'm able to fit 2 youth helmets, a backpack purse, a lunch cooler, and some toys with no issues. The seat cushions are quite comfy. The ages of my 2 little ones are 3 and 20 months. They can fit in the trailer, although there is not much wiggle room. I also feel as if this trailer wasn't designed with my kids in mind. The youngest one would throw his leg across his sister's legs, causing havoc and the bickering during bike rides is excessive, necessitating multiple stops along the route. Nap time in the trailer is challenging, as this one does not recline. To minimize the discomfort, I usually bring padding, such as a blanket or pillow to wedge in between and/or on the side. My kids also do not care for the screen cover, so I'm usually cleaning debris off of them and from within the trailer. I attached a stroller fan to the bar in order to keep them cool. Sned: Waited for this to go on sale forever. Great for pulling behind our bikes. Easy to assemble and folds up easily. We added the stroller wheels which allows more clearance walking instead of using the trailer hitch as the stroller wheel. This has plenty of storage and is easy to push. It also has the suspension which makes for a smoother ride for the kids. A bit pricey but worth it.

Lässt sich gut und leicht schieben bzw. ziehen. Sehr wendig.
Habe auch noch gebraucht die Buggy Räder gekauft. Die Kleine sitzt da lieber drin, als im Kinderwagen.
Manko, aber habe keinen Vergleich zu anderen Anhängern: zwei Kinder werden eng.

Marco Men: Hemos comprado este trailer para poder ir de paseo en bicicleta con mis dos hijas.
La decision fue muy fácil de hacer ya que tiene dos asientos con suficiente espacio para cada una y además todos los compartimentos y accesorios son un plus para poder tener mas seguridad y diversion a la vez cuando lo usamos.
Si les gusta dar paseos en bicicleta y además incluir a sus familia en ellos no duden mas y compren este trailer de Burley.

Margaret Leighton: Have used this for a few months after upgrading from a lower-end single. This is very comfortable for one 3 year old, lots of room for stuff, good suspension for poor condition city roads. It is a bit of a squeeze with 2 kids, but it would be quite inconvenient for other things if it was wider. The ability to transform to a pram is a great feature. Note that we did find it VERY difficult to assemble the first time, and haven’t tried collapsing it since. The website mentions that the material can be quite tight the first time, but I wouldn’t have expected it to be as difficult as it was.

Scouse: For the price I’m certain you won’t find a better product. It really does compete with its top end counterparts like Thule. I did get it on sale but even at full price this is good value. Well made great design. Kids love it and so do we. Loads of helpful videos from previous customers online to help with any problems or helpful advice. It’s a little wide to use as an everyday push chair but that was not it’s intended purpose. Great bit of kit.

J. C: Found best price on Amazon. First product I have had to read the manual for in decade. The assembly of the trailer is incredibly difficult you need to reach through to grab a bar and pull it together with another bar until it clicks. The first assembly is nearly impossible. Burley acknowledge this and recommend keeping the trailer expanded for a number of days to allow the skin to stretch. This is not feasible for me as the trailer is kept in outside storage. If you had 10% less strength or determination than me, I'm confident you would never be able to assemble the trailer.

I have been using it for a few weeks now and my 16 month old loves it. The luggage capacity is enormous and the suspension is useful for cycling down paths with tree roots and cycling off of curbs. Very impressed with this product.

When researching options for biking with a toddler, I first compared the attached seat approach versus the dedicated bike trailer. Consumer Reports states that the bike trailer is the safer option due to the child's shorter distance from the ground. Furthermore, I liked the idea that we could ride with the trailer, then detach it as a stroller. Seemed perfect for our lifestyle. The biggest questions then were price, size, and brand.

After a couple of days with multiple Chrome tabs open, I finally settled on the Encore X. Throughout that research I compared the different tiers of trailers (entry, mid-level, affluent-status-symbol). After some time, it seemed that Thule and Burley were the biggest players in this industry, so that narrowed the search. Then comparing the different models and reading articles, the theme emerged that "you get what you pay for".
