Usually anything pressure fit has some kind of barrier to prevent metal on metal, or metal on paint in our case.
This has nothing.. Direct finished metal to surface, with a force fitting underneath.
It's kind of fine if you're just making good and covering over rusty holes, but anyone who's removed an old sink fitting will know, eventually it isn't fine.
Our sink is an old 3 hole where we're re-using two, and need to just cover one. The sink has some chips and the holes the old fitting was on was rusty too, so this is fine as a cover up.
It doesn't quite match the brushed nickel finish. It's a bit too shiny for that.

Had a hole next to the faucet when we took out an old soap dispenser. This patched it up nicely. There is no rubber gasket but it does not look like any water gets through.
Colour does not match the sink 100% but it is close enough that we are happy with it.

Excellent quality, easy to install. An unused hole for a previous diverter was too small for a standard pop-in faucet cover and a new larger hole could not be drilled because there was no solid surface on which to anchor the hole bit. This fit easily and tightly. it also does not look like cheap chrome which would eventually discolor or peel. It appears to fit in almost any size hole that is smaller than its diameter. The existing hole which it covered was 1 1/8".
