Brinmar SBUHD Universal-Fit Air Conditioner Compressor Soundproof Blanket Wrap

James: Not sure how much it reduces the noise by itself because I installed it over a Supplying Demand 68-23427-25 Compressor Sound Blanket that I had previously installed over the compressor on my new 4 ton Bryant HVAC unit. They were both easy to install and duct tape into place. Using both seems to have helped with the compressor noise issue enough that I can sit on my patio without gritting my teeth.

Lakelife: I actually bought this for my neighbors air conditioner compressor. It was so loud that we could not have a conversation on our back porch when it was on and could even hear it in the inside of our house. This sound like it made a substantial difference. It’s not silent by any means, but we can no longer here at our house, and it sounds like a normal air conditioner when we’re on our porch. I’m guessing that the reviews that say it didn’t work didn’t use enough tape. If you don’t feel every single gap you’re going to continue to hear noise. At first, I put some duct tape on the on the corner seams and it did not make a big difference. I than bought a roll of gorilla tape and use the entire thing to make sure that there were absolutely no gaps at all and it made a big difference taking the Decibel reading from 85 down to around 63. I highly recommend this if you are needing to quiet a noisy compressor but make sure you read the installation instructions and use lots of tape (I recommend gorilla over duct since it feels a little thicker)

A. Nixon: For my Amanda AC it was too small to cover the whole circumference. It was very difficult to reach around the compressor to attach the velcro. If I had longer arms it might have been easier. However it did significantly decrease the noise.

GeoGeo: Ok, so I have a 4 tin Goodman A/C. Everytime it starts up and sits down you get that Goodman air compressor bang. Also that loud wine while it's running.
I installed this compressor sound cover on it today after washing the unit. Was very easy to install. I turned the power of to it. I did have to open the side panel and feed more of the wire out to the compressor, they all have a bundle of wire pulled back into the side box where the capacitor is. Had to make a 2 inch slit on the side of the cover due to my compressor pipes being offset and ran the wire thru it.
I put the top part on 1st. Snuged it up tight with the velcro and cut the extra velcro off. I then installed the lower part that just wrapped around the unit on the bottom, pulled the velcro tight, cut the excess velcro off. Put the top fan back in place screwed tight, put power back on. I started it up and I will say it was much quieter. The Goodman bang is much less noticeable and the running wine is almost eliminated.
Not very hard to install, just ensure power is off.

Melody WinberryMelody Winberry: It really made a big difference. Our unit is right outside our bedroom and it would wake us up. Now you have to listen for it to hear it. I was impressed. I have three stars for ease to install. It’s not “hard”. I did it in under 30 Minutes, but is awkward leaning over the unit bending down and getting leverage you need to get things nice and tight. I saw a 1 star review that said they talked to AC guys that said don’t install after market blankets because it could overheat. I called my AC guys and also the guys at the Carrier manufacturing parts store and they said it would be fine and it won’t overheat. It does get over 100 where I live. No issues so far. If you have a hermetic compressor, it should be cooled by the refrigerant gas that is passing through inside so wrapping it shouldn’t matter much if at all. A semi-hermetic compressor may use air passing around the compressor to cool it. In that case I could see why you wouldn’t want this blanket. FYI, not an HVAC guy, just asked some people and did some reading on how my compressor works so don’t take my word for it. I don’t see how it couldn’t have made a difference on the reviews that said it didn’t....
