Leslie: This is an excellent coffee maker. Makes very good coffee and is easy to use. After brewing a full insulated carafe I checked the coffee temperature and it was 175 degrees F. That is perfect. After one hour I checked the temperature again and it was 162 so good heat retention in the insulated carafe. AFTER your coffee has brewed do not put the carafe back on the stand. If it is not on the stand, the top hole that the coffee brews through closes and helps the carafe to retain the heat. A wonderful feature.

It has three brewing strengths and I prefer the middle setting "strong" but that is a matter of taste but the important thing is that you can adjust it to your taste depending on the coffee roast you are using. The auto-clean feature is great and does a good job of cleaning it out and keeping your coffee tasty. I have not tried the delay start feature as I prefer to fill the reservoir with fresh filtered water and grind my beans just before brewing. It has a 1-4 cup brewing button so if you want to make a small amount of coffee fill the reservoir only with the amount of water needed to brew and press this button before you start. Dirty BirdDirty Bird: My trusty old thermal carafe pot lid finally broke completely (no replacement lid is available) so it was time to break out this Black & Decker model that I purchased more than a year ago in preparation for the fateful day. The unit came well-packaged & was a breeze to set up. The controls are simple & intuitive & it exudes the classic "Manly Guy" black & silver that I like. I prefer carafe style coffee makers as they don't continually cook your coffee with a warmer tray until it becomes a brackish pool of unsavory, spoon-melting, gruel. This is a 12-cup carafe which is difficult to find. Most carafes are only 8-10 cups. This was what drew my attention to this unit.

It's a coffee maker so there isn't a whole lot to say about it other than it gets the job done in style & fills my belly with the yummy go-juice I crave each morning. It works well & keeps the coffee hot for several hours. It uses standard paper filters & the filter tray is removable & top-rack dishwasher safe. The carafe is very nice.
