Comments

Amazon Customer: The Monet coffee presses were always the best because they use a fine metal screen at the spout instead of slats to filter the coffee when you poor but now that Bonjour has purchased Monet, they use the same glass carafe and holder as the Bonjour presses so the top is now loosely fitting instead of a decent friction fit and the screen tends to spin off the spout as well as coffee will poor through the gap between the lid and the carafe/pitcher. I suppose you could wrap the lid with plumbers teflon tape to get a better fit. Pity I no longer have my old Monet presses from before the Bonjour purchase.

BilliJo Elizabeth Byram: I have nothing else to say, but the stupid system is forcing me to come up with something.

Lisa: This is my second Bonjour coffee press. They are pretty and work well, but the glass is very fragile and breaks easily. I've broken both, so I will buy something different this time.

EC: I like this coffee press and would give it 5 stars except for the fact that they added a plastic filter dome at the top, which is not needed and the filter dome collects water between the lid and the plastic dome liner. I've discarded other brands of coffee presses for that reason. Nothing like making coffee, putting the lid onto the carafe, only to have old dishwater leak out from the lid area into the coffee. It took some doing, but I was able to remove the nut that holds the filter dome on, and I removed it. Now I have a one piece hollow lid, which does not collect dishwater and I'm happy. :)

Kristen R: I bought this as a replacement for the same model my roommate had. I was putting dishes away, and the original French Press had an unfortunate place in the cupboard. I took note of its placement, but miscalculated as I moved to put the mixing bowl back in its proper place. I smashed the original, cleaned up the evidence, purchased the same one, and debated telling my roommate that she was out of a French press. Again. I smashed it's larger model. All by accident.

My guilty conscience prevailed, and I told my roommate everything. The new one would arrive the following day, but after morning-cup-of-coffee-time. All was well. And still well. I don't touch the thing, not ever. I assume she cleans it. I assume she likes it. She uses it every day.

One day I'll replace the larger model too.

JC: I like this french press, it makes good coffee.

Pros:
1) I had absolutely no issues with grounds in my coffee, which is one of my biggest concerns when buying a french press.
2) It's relatively easy to clean, compared to others I have used.
3) The pour spout makes it easy to pour with no mess, which is something I am particularly bad at!

Cons:
1) It doesn't quite make enough to fill up my coffee mug, but the larger size makes a little too much.
2) The way the mesh is layered lets some of the grounds get trapped between. It isn't too big of a deal since I can get them out by running my nail between the layers, I just wish I didn't have to take that extra step and sometimes a ground can be particularly stubborn.

Overall the cons are very minor and the pros very much outweigh them. I wish I could give this product 4.5 stars, it really is a great product.

UPDATE: A couple years later I am still enjoying this French Press, it’s great! But a word of warning: the glass fits very tightly into frame, but is not actually attached. I found this out when I went to throw some grounds into the woods and sent the glass flying into a retaining wall!...

Lando: I've owned a Bonjour French Press now for around 12 years (same model as this one save the extra screen filter at the lip) and I've never had any trouble with it. It makes as good of coffee as any method I've used (obviously not to be compared with Cappuccino) and only an electric percolator that brews right at 200 degrees has come close for me (I own most coffee makers known to man including an almost never used drip maker, a Turkish coffee pot, a mocha pot (that I don't use since getting a good espresso maker), a Presto percolator (awesome coffee too; not in the same realm as the old stovetop ones that could burn coffee which gave the percolator a bad name in the past) and a good quality espresso/cappuccino maker. The Bonjour French Press gets more use than all of them!

It's so easy to use (in combination with a kettle) and I just rinse it out to clean it on a daily basis and throw it in the dishwasher once a week or so (comes out spotless without having to remove the carafe from the holder. The glass has held up to 12 years of use, probably 3 days a week over the years on average (sometimes I used the cappuccino maker and other times 7 days a week with the French Press...
